سورة الحجر
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
1
الر تِلْكَ آيَاتُ الْكِتَابِ وَقُرْآنٍ مُّبِينٍ
2
رُّبَمَا يَوَدُّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لَوْ كَانُوا مُسْلِمِينَ
3
ذَرْهُمْ يَأْكُلُوا وَيَتَمَتَّعُوا وَيُلْهِهِمُ الْأَمَلُ فَسَوْفَ
يَعْلَمُونَ
4
وَمَا أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَرْيَةٍ إِلَّا وَلَهَا كِتَابٌ مَّعْلُومٌ
5
مَّا تَسْبِقُ مِنْ أُمَّةٍ أَجَلَهَا وَمَا يَسْتَأْخِرُونَ
6
وَقَالُوا يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِي نُزِّلَ عَلَيْهِ الذِّكْرُ إِنَّكَ
لَمَجْنُونٌ
7
لَّوْ مَا تَأْتِينَا بِالْمَلَائِكَةِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ
الصَّادِقِينَ
8
مَا نُنَزِّلُ الْمَلَائِكَةَ إِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ وَمَا كَانُوا إِذًا
مُّنظَرِينَ
9
إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا الذِّكْرَ وَإِنَّا لَهُ لَحَافِظُونَ
10
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ فِي شِيَعِ الْأَوَّلِينَ
11
وَمَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا بِهِ
يَسْتَهْزِئُونَ
12
كَذَلِكَ نَسْلُكُهُ فِي قُلُوبِ الْمُجْرِمِينَ
13
لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِ وَقَدْ خَلَتْ سُنَّةُ الْأَوَّلِينَ
14
وَلَوْ فَتَحْنَا عَلَيْهِم بَابًا مِّنَ السَّمَاءِ فَظَلُّوا فِيهِ
يَعْرُجُونَ
15
لَقَالُوا إِنَّمَا سُكِّرَتْ أَبْصَارُنَا بَلْ نَحْنُ قَوْمٌ
مَّسْحُورُونَ
16
وَلَقَدْ جَعَلْنَا فِي السَّمَاءِ بُرُوجًا وَزَيَّنَّاهَا
لِلنَّاظِرِينَ
17
وَحَفِظْنَاهَا مِن كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ رَّجِيمٍ
18
إِلَّا مَنِ اسْتَرَقَ السَّمْعَ فَأَتْبَعَهُ شِهَابٌ مُّبِينٌ
19
وَالْأَرْضَ مَدَدْنَاهَا وَأَلْقَيْنَا فِيهَا رَوَاسِيَ
وَأَنبَتْنَا فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ شَيْءٍ مَّوْزُونٍ
20
وَجَعَلْنَا لَكُمْ فِيهَا مَعَايِشَ وَمَن لَّسْتُمْ لَهُ
بِرَازِقِينَ
21
وَإِن مِّن شَيْءٍ إِلَّا عِندَنَا خَزَائِنُهُ وَمَا نُنَزِّلُهُ
إِلَّا بِقَدَرٍ مَّعْلُومٍ
22
وَأَرْسَلْنَا الرِّيَاحَ لَوَاقِحَ فَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ السَّمَاءِ
مَاءً فَأَسْقَيْنَاكُمُوهُ وَمَا أَنتُمْ لَهُ بِخَازِنِينَ
23
وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ نُحْيِي وَنُمِيتُ وَنَحْنُ الْوَارِثُونَ
24
وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْنَا الْمُسْتَقْدِمِينَ مِنكُمْ وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْنَا
الْمُسْتَأْخِرِينَ
25
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ يَحْشُرُهُمْ إِنَّهُ حَكِيمٌ عَلِيمٌ
26
وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْإِنسَانَ مِن صَلْصَالٍ مِّنْ حَمَإٍ
مَّسْنُونٍ
27
وَالْجَانَّ خَلَقْنَاهُ مِن قَبْلُ مِن نَّارِ السَّمُومِ
28
وَإِذْ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلْمَلَائِكَةِ إِنِّي خَالِقٌ بَشَرًا مِّن
صَلْصَالٍ مِّنْ حَمَإٍ مَّسْنُونٍ
29
فَإِذَا سَوَّيْتُهُ وَنَفَخْتُ فِيهِ مِن رُّوحِي فَقَعُوا لَهُ
سَاجِدِينَ
30
فَسَجَدَ الْمَلَائِكَةُ كُلُّهُمْ أَجْمَعُونَ
31
إِلَّا إِبْلِيسَ أَبَى أَن يَكُونَ مَعَ السَّاجِدِينَ
32
قَالَ يَا إِبْلِيسُ مَا لَكَ أَلَّا تَكُونَ مَعَ السَّاجِدِينَ
33
قَالَ لَمْ أَكُن لِّأَسْجُدَ لِبَشَرٍ خَلَقْتَهُ مِن صَلْصَالٍ
مِّنْ حَمَإٍ مَّسْنُونٍ
34
قَالَ فَاخْرُجْ مِنْهَا فَإِنَّكَ رَجِيمٌ
35
وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكَ اللَّعْنَةَ إِلَى يَوْمِ الدِّينِ
36
قَالَ رَبِّ فَأَنظِرْنِي إِلَى يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ
37
قَالَ فَإِنَّكَ مِنَ الْمُنظَرِينَ
38
إِلَى يَوْمِ الْوَقْتِ الْمَعْلُومِ
39
قَالَ رَبِّ بِمَا أَغْوَيْتَنِي لَأُزَيِّنَنَّ لَهُمْ فِي الْأَرْضِ
وَلَأُغْوِيَنَّهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
40
إِلَّا عِبَادَكَ مِنْهُمُ الْمُخْلَصِينَ
41
قَالَ هَذَا صِرَاطٌ عَلَيَّ مُسْتَقِيمٌ
42
إِنَّ عِبَادِي لَيْسَ لَكَ عَلَيْهِمْ سُلْطَانٌ إِلَّا مَنِ
اتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ الْغَاوِينَ
43
وَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ لَمَوْعِدُهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
44
لَهَا سَبْعَةُ أَبْوَابٍ لِّكُلِّ بَابٍ مِّنْهُمْ جُزْءٌ
مَّقْسُومٌ
45
إِنَّ الْمُتَّقِينَ فِي جَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ
46
ادْخُلُوهَا بِسَلَامٍ آمِنِينَ
47
وَنَزَعْنَا مَا فِي صُدُورِهِم مِّنْ غِلٍّ إِخْوَانًا عَلَى سُرُرٍ
مُّتَقَابِلِينَ
48
لَا يَمَسُّهُمْ فِيهَا نَصَبٌ وَمَا هُم مِّنْهَا بِمُخْرَجِينَ
49
نَبِّئْ عِبَادِي أَنِّي أَنَا الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ
50
وَأَنَّ عَذَابِي هُوَ الْعَذَابُ الْأَلِيمُ
51
وَنَبِّئْهُمْ عَن ضَيْفِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ
52
إِذْ دَخَلُوا عَلَيْهِ فَقَالُوا سَلَامًا قَالَ إِنَّا مِنكُمْ
وَجِلُونَ
53
قَالُوا لَا تَوْجَلْ إِنَّا نُبَشِّرُكَ بِغُلَامٍ عَلِيمٍ
54
قَالَ أَبَشَّرْتُمُونِي عَلَى أَن مَّسَّنِيَ الْكِبَرُ فَبِمَ
تُبَشِّرُونَ
55
قَالُوا بَشَّرْنَاكَ بِالْحَقِّ فَلَا تَكُن مِّنَ الْقَانِطِينَ
56
قَالَ وَمَن يَقْنَطُ مِن رَّحْمَةِ رَبِّهِ إِلَّا الضَّالُّونَ
57
قَالَ فَمَا خَطْبُكُمْ أَيُّهَا الْمُرْسَلُونَ
58
قَالُوا إِنَّا أُرْسِلْنَا إِلَى قَوْمٍ مُّجْرِمِينَ
59
إِلَّا آلَ لُوطٍ إِنَّا لَمُنَجُّوهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
60
إِلَّا امْرَأَتَهُ قَدَّرْنَا إِنَّهَا لَمِنَ الْغَابِرِينَ
61
فَلَمَّا جَاءَ آلَ لُوطٍ الْمُرْسَلُونَ
62
قَالَ إِنَّكُمْ قَوْمٌ مُّنكَرُونَ
63
قَالُوا بَلْ جِئْنَاكَ بِمَا كَانُوا فِيهِ يَمْتَرُونَ
64
وَأَتَيْنَاكَ بِالْحَقِّ وَإِنَّا لَصَادِقُونَ
65
فَأَسْرِ بِأَهْلِكَ بِقِطْعٍ مِّنَ اللَّيْلِ وَاتَّبِعْ
أَدْبَارَهُمْ وَلَا يَلْتَفِتْ مِنكُمْ أَحَدٌ وَامْضُوا حَيْثُ تُؤْمَرُونَ
66
وَقَضَيْنَا إِلَيْهِ ذَلِكَ الْأَمْرَ أَنَّ دَابِرَ هَؤُلَاءِ
مَقْطُوعٌ مُّصْبِحِينَ
67
وَجَاءَ أَهْلُ الْمَدِينَةِ يَسْتَبْشِرُونَ
68
قَالَ إِنَّ هَؤُلَاءِ ضَيْفِي فَلَا تَفْضَحُونِ
69
وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَلَا تُخْزُونِ
70
قَالُوا أَوَلَمْ نَنْهَكَ عَنِ الْعَالَمِينَ
71
قَالَ هَؤُلَاءِ بَنَاتِي إِن كُنتُمْ فَاعِلِينَ
72
لَعَمْرُكَ إِنَّهُمْ لَفِي سَكْرَتِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَ
73
فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الصَّيْحَةُ مُشْرِقِينَ
74
فَجَعَلْنَا عَالِيَهَا سَافِلَهَا وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ
حِجَارَةً مِّن سِجِّيلٍ
75
إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِّلْمُتَوَسِّمِينَ
76
وَإِنَّهَا لَبِسَبِيلٍ مُّقِيمٍ
77
إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَةً لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
78
وَإِن كَانَ أَصْحَابُ الْأَيْكَةِ لَظَالِمِينَ
79
فَانتَقَمْنَا مِنْهُمْ وَإِنَّهُمَا لَبِإِمَامٍ مُّبِينٍ
80
وَلَقَدْ كَذَّبَ أَصْحَابُ الْحِجْرِ الْمُرْسَلِينَ
81
وَآتَيْنَاهُمْ آيَاتِنَا فَكَانُوا عَنْهَا مُعْرِضِينَ
82
وَكَانُوا يَنْحِتُونَ مِنَ الْجِبَالِ بُيُوتًا آمِنِينَ
83
فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الصَّيْحَةُ مُصْبِحِينَ
84
فَمَا أَغْنَى عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُونَ
85
وَمَا خَلَقْنَا السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا إِلَّا
بِالْحَقِّ وَإِنَّ السَّاعَةَ لَآتِيَةٌ فَاصْفَحِ الصَّفْحَ الْجَمِيلَ
86
إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ الْخَلَّاقُ الْعَلِيمُ
87
وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَاكَ سَبْعًا مِّنَ الْمَثَانِي وَالْقُرْآنَ
الْعَظِيمَ
88
لَا تَمُدَّنَّ عَيْنَيْكَ إِلَى مَا مَتَّعْنَا بِهِ أَزْوَاجًا
مِّنْهُمْ وَلَا تَحْزَنْ عَلَيْهِمْ وَاخْفِضْ جَنَاحَكَ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
89
وَقُلْ إِنِّي أَنَا النَّذِيرُ الْمُبِينُ
90
كَمَا أَنزَلْنَا عَلَى الْمُقْتَسِمِينَ
91
الَّذِينَ جَعَلُوا الْقُرْآنَ عِضِينَ
92
فَوَرَبِّكَ لَنَسْأَلَنَّهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
93
عَمَّا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ
94
فَاصْدَعْ بِمَا تُؤْمَرُ وَأَعْرِضْ عَنِ الْمُشْرِكِينَ
95
إِنَّا كَفَيْنَاكَ الْمُسْتَهْزِئِينَ
96
الَّذِينَ يَجْعَلُونَ مَعَ اللَّهِ إِلَهًا آخَرَ فَسَوْفَ
يَعْلَمُونَ
97
وَلَقَدْ نَعْلَمُ أَنَّكَ يَضِيقُ صَدْرُكَ بِمَا يَقُولُونَ
98
فَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ وَكُن مِّنَ السَّاجِدِينَ
99
وَاعْبُدْ رَبَّكَ حَتَّى يَأْتِيَكَ الْيَقِينُ

Alif, Lâm, Râ. Voici les versets du Livre et d’une Lecture
explicite.

[Le Jour du Jugement Dernier] les mécréants voudraient avoir été
Musulmans [soumis].
3
Laisse-les manger, jouir (un temps), et être distraits par
l’espoir ; car bientôt ils sauront !
4
Or Nous ne détruisons aucune cité sans qu’elle n’ait eu [un terme
fixé en] une Ecriture connue.
5
Nulle communauté ne devance son terme, ni ne le retarde.
6
Et ils (les mecquois) disent : « O toi sur qui on a fait descendre
le Coran, tu es certainement fou !
7
Pourquoi ne nous es-tu pas venu avec les Anges, si tu es du
nombre des véridiques ? »
8
Nous ne faisons descendre les Anges qu’avec la vérité ; et alors,
il ne leur sera pas accordé de répit [à ces impies].
9
En vérité c’est Nous qui avons fait descendre le Coran, et c’est
Nous qui en sommes gardien.
10
Et nous avons certes envoyé, avant toi, [des Messagers] parmi
les peuples des Anciens.
11
Et pas un Messager ne leur est venu sans qu’ils s’en soient
moqués.
12
C’est ainsi que Nous faisons pénétrer (la mécréance) dans les
cœurs des coupables.
13
Ils ne croiront pas en lui [le Messager ou le Coran] bien que se
soit accompli le sort traditionnel des anciens.
14
Et même si Nous ouvrions pour eux une porte du ciel, et qu’ils
pussent y monter,
15
ils diraient : « Vraiment nos yeux sont voilés. Mais plutôt, nous
sommes des gens ensorcelés ».
16
Certes Nous avons placé dans le ciel des constellations et Nous
l’avons embelli pour ceux qui regardent.
17
Et Nous l’avons protégé contre tout diable banni.
18
A moins que l’un d’eux parvienne subrepticement à écouter, une
flamme brillante alors le poursuit.
19
Et quant à la terre, Nous l’avons étalée et y avons placé des
montagnes (immobiles) et y avons fait pousser toute chose harmonieusement
proportionnée.
20
Et Nous y avons placé des vivres pour vous, et (placé aussi pour
vous) des êtres que vous ne nourrissez pas.
21
Et il n’est rien dont Nous n’ayons les réserves et Nous ne le
faisons descendre que dans une mesure déterminée.
22
Et Nous envoyons les vents fécondants ; et Nous faisons alors
descendre du ciel une eau dont Nous vous abreuvons et que vous n’êtes pas en
mesure de conserver.
23
Et c’est bien Nous qui donnons la vie et donnons la mort, et
c’est Nous qui sommes l’héritier [de tout].
24
Et Nous connaissons certes ceux qui parmi vous ont avancé et
Nous connaissons ceux qui tardent encore.
25
Certes, c’est ton Seigneur qui les rassemblera. Car c’est Lui le
Sage, l’Omniscient.
26
Nous créâmes l’homme d’une argile crissante, extraite d’une boue
malléable.
27
Et quant au djinn, Nous l’avions auparavant créé d’un feu d’une
chaleur ardente.
28
Et lorsque ton Seigneur dit aux Anges : « Je vais créer un homme
d’argile crissante, extraite d’une boue malléable,
29
et dès que Je l’aurai harmonieusement formé et lui aurai
insufflé Mon souffle de vie, jetez-vous alors, prosternés devant lui ».
30
Alors, les Anges se prosternèrent tous ensemble,
31
excepté Iblis qui refusa d’être avec les prosternés.
32
Alors [Allah] dit : « O Iblis, pourquoi n’es-tu pas au nombre des
prosternés ? »
33
Il dit : « Je ne puis me prosterner devant un homme que Tu as créé
d’argile crissante, extraite d’une boue malléable ».
34
- Et [Allah] dit : « Sors de là [du Paradis], car te voilà
banni !
35
Et malédiction sur toi, jusqu’au Jour de la rétribution ! »
36
- Il dit : « O mon Seigneur, donne-moi donc un délai jusqu’au jour
où ils (les gens) seront ressuscités ».
37
[Allah] dit : « tu es de ceux à qui ce délai est accordé,
38
jusqu’au jour de l’instant connu » [d’Allah].
39
- Il dit : « O mon Seigneur, parce que Tu m’as induit en erreur,
eh bien je leur enjoliverai la vie sur terre et les égarerai tous,
40
à l’exception, parmi eux, de Tes serviteurs élus. »
41
- « [Allah] dit : voici une voie droite [qui mène] vers Moi.
42
Sur Mes serviteurs tu n’auras aucune autorité, excepté sur celui
qui te suivra parmi les dévoyés.
43
Et l’Enfer sera sûrement leur lieu de rendez-vous à tous.
44
Il a sept portes ; et chaque porte en a sa part déterminée ».
45
Certes, les pieux seront dans des jardins avec des sources.
46
« Entrez-y en paix et en sécurité ».
47
Et Nous aurons arraché toute rancune de leurs poitrines : et ils
se sentiront frères, faisant face les uns aux autres sur des lits.
48
Nulle fatigue ne les y touchera. Et on ne les en fera pas
sortir.
49
Informe Mes serviteurs que c’est Moi le Pardonneur, le Très
Miséricordieux.
50
et que Mon châtiment est certes le châtiment douloureux.
51
Et informe-les au sujet des hôtes d’Abraham
52
Quand ils entrèrent chez lui et dirent : « Salâm » - Il dit : « Nous
avons peur de vous ».
53
Ils dirent : « N’aie pas peur ! Nous t’annonçons une bonne
nouvelle, [la naissance] d’un garçon plein de savoir ».
54
Il dit : « M’annoncez-vous [cette nouvelle] alors que la
vieillesse m’a touché ? Que m’annoncez-vous donc ? »
55
- Ils dirent : « Nous t’annonçons la vérité. Ne sois donc pas de
ceux qui désespèrent ».
56
- Il dit : « Et qui désespère de la miséricorde de son Seigneur,
sinon les égarés ? »
57
Et il [leur] dit : « Que voulez-vous, ô envoyés d’Allah ? »
58
- Ils dirent : « En vérité, nous sommes envoyés à des gens
criminels,
59
à l’exception de la famille de Lot que nous sauverons tous
60
sauf sa femme.« Nous (Allah) avions déterminé qu’elle sera du
nombre des exterminés.
61
Puis lorsque les envoyés vinrent auprès de la famille de Lot
62
celui-ci dit : « Vous êtes [pour moi] des gens inconnus ».
63
- Ils dirent : « Nous sommes plutôt venus à toi en apportant (le
châtiment) à propos duquel ils doutaient.
64
Et nous venons à toi avec la vérité. Et nous sommes
véridiques.
65
Pars donc avec ta famille en parie de nuit et suis leurs
arrières ; et que nul d’entre vous ne se retourne. Et allez là où on vous le
commande ».
66
Et Nous lui annonçâmes cet ordre : que ces gens-là, au matin,
seront anéantis jusqu’au dernier.
67
Et les habitants de la ville (Sodome) vinrent [à lui] dans la
joie.
68
- Il dit : « Ceux-ci sont mes hôtes, ne me déshonorez donc
pas.
69
Et craignez Allah. Et ne me couvrez pas d’ignominie. »
70
Ils dirent : « Ne t’avions-nous pas interdit de [recevoir] du
monde ? »
71
Il dit : « Voici mes filles, si vous voulez faire [quelque
chose] ! »
72
Par ta vie ! ils se confondaient dans leur délire.
73
Alors, au lever du soleil le Cri (la catastrophe) les
saisit.
74
Et Nous renversâmes [la ville] de fond en comble et fîmes
pleuvoir sur eux des pierres d’argile dure.
75
Voilà vraiment des preuves, pour ceux qui savent observer !
76
Elle [cette ville] se trouvait sur un chemin connu de tous.
77
Voilà vraiment une exhortation pour les croyants !
78
Et les habitants d’al-Aïka étaient [aussi] des injustes.
79
Nous Nous sommes donc vengés d’eux. Et ces deux [cités],
vraiment, sont sur une route bien évidente [que vous connaissez].
80
Certes, les gens d’al-Hijr ont traité de menteurs les
messagers.
81
Nous leur avons montré Nos miracles, mais ils s’en étaient
détournés.
82
Et ils taillaient des maisons dans les montagnes, vivant en
sécurité.
83
Puis, au matin, le Cri les saisit.
84
Ce qu’ils avaient acquis ne leur a donc point profité.
85
Et Nous n’avons créé les cieux et la terre, et ce qui est entre
eux, que pour une juste raison. Et l’Heure [sans aucun doute] arrivera !
Pardonne-[leur] donc d’un beau pardon.

Ton Seigneur, c’est Lui vraiment le grand Créateur,
l’Omniscient.

Nous t’avons certes donné « les sept versets que l’on répète »,
ainsi que le Coran sublime.

Ne regarde surtout pas avec envie les choses dont Nous avons
donné jouissance temporaire à certains couples d’entre eux, ne t’afflige pas à
leur sujet et abaisse ton aile pour les croyants.

Et dis : « Je suis l’avertisseur évident » (d’un châtiment),
90
De même que Nous avons fait descendre [le châtiment] sur ceux
qui ont juré (entre eux),
91
ceux qui ont fait du Coran des fractions diverses, (pour créer
des doutes).

Par ton Seigneur ! Nous les interrogerons tous
93
sur ce qu’ils œuvraient.
94
Expose donc clairement ce qu’on t’a commandé et détourne-toi des
associateurs.

Nous t’avons effectivement défendu vis-à-vis des railleurs.
96
Ceux qui associent à Allah une autre divinité. Mais ils sauront
bientôt.
97
Et Nous savons certes que ta poitrine se serre, à cause de ce
qu’ils disent.
98
Glorifie donc Ton Seigneur par Sa louange et sois de ceux qui se
prosternent ;
99
et adore ton Seigneur jusqu’à ce que te vienne la certitude (la
mort).

leave them to eat, and to take their joy, and to be bemused by hope; certainly they will soon know!

Never a city have We destroyed, but it had a known decree,

and no nation outstrips its term, nor do they put it back.

They say: ‘Thou, upon whom the Remembrance is sent down, thou art assuredly possessed!
7
Why dost thou not bring the angels unto us, if thou speakest truly?’
8
We send not down the angels, save with truth;
9
then they would not be respited. It is We who have sent down the Remembrance, and We watch over it.
10
Indeed, We sent Messengers before thee, among the factions of the ancients,
11
and not a single Messenger came to them, but they mocked at him;
12
even so We cause it to enter into the hearts of the sinners --
13
they believe not in it, though the wont of the ancients is already gone.
14
Though We opened to them a gate in heaven, and still they mounted through it,
15
yet would they say, ‘Our eyes have been dazzled; nay, we are a people bewitched!’

We have set in heaven constellations and decked them out fair to the beholders,
17
and guarded them from every accursed Satan

excepting such as listens by stealth -- and he is pursued by a manifest flame.

And the earth -- We stretched it forth, and cast on it firm mountains, and We caused to grow therein of every thing justly weighed,
20
and there appointed for you livelihood, and for those you provide not for.

Naught is there, but its treasuries are with Us, and We send it not down but in a known measure.
22
And We loose the winds fertilising, and We send down out of heaven water, then We give it to you to drink, and you are not its treasurers.
23
It is We who give life, and make to die, and it is We who are the inheritors.
24
We know the ones of you who press forward, and We know the laggards;
25
and it is thy Lord shall muster them, and He is All-wise, All-knowing.
26
Surely We created man of a clay of mud moulded,
27
and the jinn created We before of fire flaming.
28
And when thy Lord said to the angels, ‘See, I am creating a mortal of a clay of mud moulded.
29
When I have shaped him, and breathed My spirit in him, fall you down, bowing before him!’
30
Then the angels bowed themselves all together,
31
save Iblis; he refused to be among those bowing.

Said He, ‘What ails thee, Iblis, that thou art not among those bowing?’
33
Said he, ‘I would never bow myself before a mortal whom Thou hast created of a clay of mud moulded.’

Said He, ‘Then go thou forth hence; thou art accursed.
35
Upon thee shall rest the curse, till the Day of Doom.’

Said he, ‘My Lord, respite me till the day they shall be raised.’

Said He, ‘Thou art among the ones that are respited

unto the day of a known time.’

Said he, ‘My Lord, for Thy perverting me I shall deck all fair to them in the earth, and I shall pervert them, all together,

excepting those Thy servants among them that are devoted.

Said He, ‘This is for Me a straight path:

over My servants thou shalt have no authority, except those that follow thee,
43
being perverse; Gehenna shall be their promised land all together.
44
Seven gates it has, and unto each gate a set portion of them belongs.’
45
But the godfearing shall be amidst gardens and fountains:
46
‘Enter you them, in peace and security!’
47
We shall strip away all rancour that is in their breasts; as brothers they shall be upon couches set face to face;
48
no fatigue there shall smite them, neither shall they ever be driven forth from there.
49
Tell My servants I am the All-forgiving, the All-compassionate,
50
and that My chastisement is the painful chastisement.
51
And tell them of the guests of Abraham,
52
when they entered unto him, saying, ‘Peace!’ He said, ‘Behold, we are afraid of you.’
53
They said, ‘Be not afraid; behold, we give thee good tidings of a cunning boy.’
54
He said, ‘What, do you give me good tidings, though old age has smitten me? Of what do you
55
give me good tidings?’ They said, ‘We give thee good tidings of truth. Be not of those that despair.’
56
He said, ‘And who despairs of the mercy of his Lord, excepting those that are astray?’
57
He said, ‘And what is your business, envoys?’
58
They said, ‘We have been sent unto a people of sinners,
59
excepting the folk of Lot; them we shall deliver
60
all together, excepting his wife -- we have decreed, she shall surely be of those that tarry.’
61
So, when the envoys came to the folk of Lot,
62
he said, ‘Surely you are a people unknown to me!’
63
They said, ‘Nay, but we have brought thee that concerning which they were doubting.
64
We have come to thee with the truth, and assuredly we speak truly.
65
So set forth, thou with thy family, in a watch of the night, and follow after the backs of them, and let not any one of you turn round; and depart unto the place you are commanded.’
66
And We decreed for him that commandment, that the last remnant of those should be cut off in the morning.
67
And the people of the city came rejoicing.
68
He said, ‘These are my guests; put me not to shame,
69
and fear God, and do not degrade me.’
70
They said, ‘Have we not forbidden thee all beings?’
71
He said, ‘These are my daughters, if you would be doing.’
72
By thy life, they wandered blindly in their dazzlement,
73
and the Cry seized them at the sunrise,
74
and We turned it uppermost nethermost and rained on it stones of baked clay.
75
Surely in that are signs for such as mark;
76
surely it is on a way yet remaining;
77
surely in that is a sign for believers.
78
Certainly the dwellers in the Thicket were evildoers,
79
and We took vengeance on them. The two of them were upon a roadway manifest.
80
The dwellers in El-Hijr cried lies to the Envoys.
81
We brought them. Our signs, and they turned away from them.
82
They were hewing the mountains into houses, therein dwelling securely;
83
and the Cry seized them in the morning;
84
that they earned did not avail them.
85
We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, save in truth. Surely the Hour is coming; so pardon thou, with a gracious pardoning.
86
Surely thy Lord, He is the All-creator, the All-knowing.
87
We have given thee seven of the oft-repeated, and the mighty Koran.
88
Stretch not thine eyes to that We have given pairs of them to enjoy; and do not sorrow for them, and lower thy wing unto the believers,
89
and say, ‘Surely, I am the manifest warner.’
90
So We sent it down to the partitioners,
91
who have broken the Koran into fragments.
92
Now by thy Lord, We shall surely question them all together
93
concerning that they were doing.
94
So shout that thou art commanded and turn thou away from the idolaters.

We suffice thee against the mockers,
96
even against those who set up with God another god. Certainly they will soon know!

We know indeed thy breast is straitened by the things they say.
98
Proclaim thy Lord’s praise, and be of those that bow,
99
and serve thy Lord, until the Certain comes to thee.

Revealed at Mecca
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

Let them eat and enjoy life, and let (false) hope beguile them. They will come to know!

And We destroyed no township but there was a known decree for it.

No nation can outstrip its term nor can they lag behind.

And they say: O thou unto whom the Reminder is revealed, lo! thou art indeed a madman!
7
Why bringest thou not angels unto us, if thou art of the truthful?
8
We send not down the angels save with the Fact, and in that case (the disbelievers) would not be tolerated.
9
Lo! We, even We, reveal the Reminder, and lo! We verily are its Guardian.
10
We verily sent (messengers) before thee among the factions of the men of old.
11
And never came there unto them a messenger but they did mock him.
12
Thus do We make it traverse the hearts of the guilty:
13
They believe not therein, though the example of the men of old hath gone before.
14
And even if We opened unto them a gate of heaven and they kept mounting through it,
15
They would say: Our sight is wrong - nay, but we are folk bewitched.
16
And verily in the heaven we have set mansions of the stars, and We have beautified it for beholders.
17
And We have guarded it from every outcast devil,
18
Save him who stealeth the hearing, and them doth a clear flame pursue.
19
And the earth have We spread out, and placed therein firm hills, and caused each seemly thing to grow therein.
20
And we have given unto you livelihoods therein, and unto those for whom ye provide not.
21
And there is not a thing but with Us are the stores thereof. And we send it not down save in appointed measure.
22
And We send the winds fertilising, and cause water to descend from the sky, and give it you to drink. It is not ye who are the holders of the store thereof.
23
Lo! and it is We, even We, Who quicken and give death, and We are the Inheritor.
24
And verily We know the eager among you and verily We know the laggards.
25
Lo! thy Lord will gather them together. Lo! He is Wise, Aware.
26
Verily We created man of potter’s clay of black mud altered,
27
And the jinn did We create aforetime of essential fire.
28
And (remember) when thy Lord said unto the angels: Lo! I am creating a mortal out of potter’s clay of black mud altered,
29
So, when I have made him and have breathed into him of My Spirit, do ye fall down, prostrating yourselves unto him.
30
So the angels fell prostrate, all of them together"

Save Iblis. He refused to be among the prostrate.
32
He said: O Iblis! What aileth thee that thou art not among the prostrate?
33
He said: I am not one to prostrate myself unto a mortal whom Thou hast created out of potter’s clay of black mud altered!
34
He said: Then go thou forth from hence, for lo! thou art outcast.
35
And lo! the curse shall be upon thee till the Day of Judgment.
36
He said: My Lord! Reprieve me till the day when they are raised.
37
He said: Then lo! thou art of those reprieved"

Till the Day of appointed time.
39
He said: My Lord! Because Thou hast sent me astray, I verily shall adorn the path of error for them in the earth, and shall mislead them every one,
40
Save such of them as are Thy perfectly devoted slaves.
41
He said: This is a right course incumbent upon Me:
42
Lo! as for My slaves, thou hast no power over any of them save such of the froward as follow thee,
43
And lo! for all such, hell will be the promised place.
44
It hath seven gates, and each gate hath an appointed portion.
45
Lo! those who ward off (evil) are among gardens and watersprings.
46
(And it is said unto them): Enter them in peace, secure.
47
And We remove whatever rancour may be in their breasts. As brethren, face to face, (they rest) on couches raised.
48
Toil cometh not unto them there, nor will they be expelled from thence.
49
Announce, (O Muḥammad) unto My slaves that verily I am the Forgiving, the Merciful,
50
And that My doom is the dolorous doom.
51
And tell them of Abraham’s guests,
52
(How) when they came in unto him, and said: Peace. He said: Lo! we are afraid of you.
53
They said: Be not afraid! Lo! we bring thee good tidings of a boy possessing wisdom.
54
He said: Bring ye me good tidings (of a son) when old age hath overtaken me? Of what then can ye bring good tidings?
55
They said: We bring thee good tidings in truth. So be not thou of the despairing.
56
He said: And who despaireth of the mercy of his Lord save those who are astray?
57
He said: And afterward what is your business, O ye messengers (of Allah)?
58
They said: We have been sent unto a guilty folk,
59
(All) save the family of Lot. Them we shall deliver every one,
60
Except his wife, of whom We had decreed that she should be of those who stay behind.
61
And when the messengers came unto the family of Lot,
62
He said: Lo! ye are folk unknown (to me).
63
They said: Nay, but we bring thee that concerning which they keep disputing,
64
And bring thee the Truth, and lo! we are truth-tellers.
65
So travel with thy household in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs. Let none of you turn round, but go whither ye are commanded.
66
And We made plain the case to him, that the root of them (who did wrong) was to be cut at early morn.
67
And the people of the city came, rejoicing at the news (of new arrivals).
68
He said: Lo! they are my guests. Affront me not!
69
And keep your duty to Allah, and shame me not!
70
They said; Have we not forbidden you from (entertaining) anyone?
71
He said: Here are my daughters, if ye must be doing (so).
72
By thy life (O Muḥammad) they moved blindly in the frenzy of approaching death.
73
Then the (Awful) Cry overtook them at the sunrise.
74
And We utterly confounded them, and We rained upon them stones of heated clay.
75
Lo! therein verily are portents for those who read the signs.
76
And lo! it is upon a road still uneffaced.
77
Lo! therein is indeed a portent for believers.
78
And the dwellers in the wood indeed were evil-doers.
79
So we took vengeance on them; and lo! they both are on a high-road plain to see.
80
And the dwellers in Al-Hijr denied (Our) messengers.
81
And we gave them Our revelations, but they were averse to them.
82
And they used to hew out dwellings from the hills, (wherein they dwelt) secure.
83
But the (Awful) Cry overtook them at the morning hour,
84
And that which they were wont to count as gain availed them not.
85
We created not the heavens and the earth and all that is between them save with truth, and lo! the Hour is surely coming. So forgive, (O Muḥammad), with a gracious forgiveness.

Lo! Thy Lord! He is the All-Wise Creator.
87
We have given thee seven of the oft-repeated (verses) and the great Qur’an.
88
Strain not thine eyes toward that which We cause some wedded pairs among them to enjoin, and be not grieved on their account, and lower thy wing (in tenderness) for the believers.
89
And say: Lo! I, even I, am a plain warner,
90
Such as We send down for those who make division,
91
Those who break the Qur’an into parts.
92
Them, by thy Lord, We shall question, every one,
93
Of what they used to do.

So proclaim that which thou art commanded, and withdraw from the idolaters.

Lo! We defend thee from the scoffers,

Who set some other god along with Allah. But they will come to know.

Well know We that thy bosom is oppressed by what they say,

But hymn the praise of thy Lord, and be of those who make prostration (unto Him).

And serve thy Lord till the Inevitable cometh unto thee.

of the unbelievers, &c.] That is, Do not envy or covet their worldly prosperity, since thou
hast received, in the Korân, a blessing, in comparison whereof all that we
have bestowed on them ought to be contemned as of no value. Al Beidâwi
mentions a tradition, that Mohammed meeting at Adhriât (a town of Syria) seven
caravans, very richly laden, belonging to some Jews of the tribes of Koreidha
and al Nadîr, his men had a great mind to plunder them, saying, That those
riches would be of great service for the propagation of God’s true religion.
But the prophet represented to them, by this passage, that they had no reason
to repine, God having given them the seven verses, which were infinitely more
valuable than those seven caravans4.

from entering Mecca, to visit the temple, lest they should be persuaded to
embrace Islâm: and this, it is said, was done by ten men, who were all slain
at Bedr. Others translate the word, who bound themselves by oath; and suppose
certain Thamûdites, who swore to kill Saleh by night, are here meant. But the
sentence more probably relates to the Jews and Christians, who (say the
Mohammedans) receive some part of the scriptures, and reject others; and also

inveterate enemies of Mohammed, continually persecuting him, and turning him
into ridicule; wherefore at length Gabriel came and told him that he was
commanded to take his part against them; and on the angel’s making a sign
towards them one after another, al Walîd passing by some arrows, one of them
hitched in his garment, and he, out of pride, not stooping to take it off, but
walking forward, the head of it cut a vein in his heel, and he bled to death;

perpetual sneezing; al Aswad Ebn Abd Yaghûth ran his head against a thorny

custodiendos reliquit illos Doctoribus legis, & Pontificibus.
Sed hi discordes fuerunt circa eos inter se ob invidiam. Hinc orta
est in illis de pravatio. Alcoranum autem nulli alii præter se
tradidit custodiendum. Verùm cum hac tota chimerica custodia,
Alcoranum in multis corruptum, ac mutatum fuisse patet ex iis, quæ in
prodromo P. 1. de Alcorano dicta sunt. Interim obiter noto, cùm
Mahumetus sępiùs præcipiat suis, ut omnes sacros libros, Pentateuchum
scilicet, Euangelium, & Alcoranum, pari in honore habeant, nullumque
inter eos discrimen faciant ; cur non omnes à Deo æquè custoditos, atque
à corruptione servatos fuisse fateatur ? Porrò, si eo solum temporis
spatio, quo Alcoranus è Cœlo ad Mahumetum, vel ad Cœlum lunæ missus est,
custoditus fuit à Deo, ne Dæmones eum depravarent : cur non idem de
Pentateucho, & Euangelio asseramus ? Neque enim credi potest,
Pentateuchum ad Moysem, vel Euangelium ad Jesum è Cœlo corruptum
pervenisse. Si verò de tempore subsequenti, & quod usque modo
decurrit, agatur ; Sole ipso clarius est, Alcoranum non ita à Deo
custoditum fuisse, ut in illum immutatio aliqua, vel additio, vel
diminutio, vel depravatio irrepserit : cùm Persę (ut Turcæ, & Arabes
asserunt) & Turcæ, & Arabes (ut affirmant Persæ) multa in eo
etiam substantialia corruperint, vel mutaverint, & tamen utraque
gens credat, se Alcoranum verum habere. Hùc accedit, quòd, cùm Alcoranus
lectionibus variis plenus sit, nec vera lectio certò possit definiri :
sequitur necessariò plures in illum mutationes irrepsisse. Prætereà
scire vellem à Moslemis, quisnam, & ubinam sit Alcoranus ille ita à
Deo custoditus, ut nulla in eo mutatio reperiatur. Nos sanè videmus in
omnibus Alcorani exemplaribus plura menda, etiam substantialia, saltem
Amanuensium negligentia illapsa fuisse : & in sex, aut septem, quæ
ego præ manibus habui, à Mahumetanis scriptis, multa, eaque essentialia
errata notavi. Nec mirum : summa enim esset amentia sibi persuadere,
Deum assistere omnibus Alcoranum exscribentibus, ut nullum in scribendo
erratum committerent. Erit igitur Alcoranus aliquis in universali,
cujusmodi sunt genera, & species apud Philosophos, qui in Utopiæ
tantùm Regno reperietur. At idem nobis de Pentateucho, & Euangelio
majori cum ratione dicere licebit : Vel erit ille idem, quem semel in
anno ostendebat Gabriel Mahumeto, qui nullibi reperitur. Nec tamen
Alcoranus, quem Mahumetus ipse apud se scriptum habebat ; poterat esse
illi uniformis alioqui frustra Gabriel suum illi Alcoranum ostendisset.
Probat etiam in Alcorano mutationem factam fuisse, titulorum illa
ridiculorum inscriptio : quæ in nullo penè Alcorani exemplari uniformis
reperitur. Demùm puncta distinctiva, seu commata, motiones, seu vocales,
& cætera signa grammaticalia, in Alcorano longè post Mahumeti
tempora addita fuisse, docti omnes, & norunt, & fatentur.
De Turribus illis cœlestibus, ac
Dæmonibus inde expulsis, longa est fabula. Breviter hìc repetam, quæ in
secunda Prodromi mei parte cap. 4. p. 82. fusiùs exposui. Ante adventum
Mahumeti assidebant Dæmones in his Turribus, & inde per foramina
quædam arrectis auriculis arcana Angelorum inter se, & cum Deo
colloquia excipiebant : &, si qua futura ex iis cognovissent, in
terram descendentes, Magis, Ariolisque revelabant, ut ita homines
faciliùs deciperent. Affirmant ergo uniformiter scriptores Moslemi,
paulò antequam Mahumetus oriretur, Deum flammas quasdam in Dæmones
repentè immisisse, dùm nihil tale cogitantes, in turribus illis
Angelorum colloquia furtim excepturi accumberent : & universos
tumultuatim aufugisse, nec unquam eò reversos fuisse. Fabulam
clarioribus verbis ex Arabico idiomate brevitatis causa fideliter
translatis, ita refert Albacarius : Et
commoti, conterritique sunt Dæmones, & expulsi sunt à locis, in
quibus jacebant, ut furtim exciperent ex illis ea, quę ab Angelis,
ac Deo in Cœlo dicebantur, & flammeis jaculis percussi sunt :
Habetur ex Homar Sceibanensi, & communi Historicorum relatu,
Magos, & Ariolos, & Satan as rebelles, & Dęmonas, ante
Mahumeti adventum consuevisse res admirandas ostendere, ac
peregrina, novaque prodigia patrare ; & hominibus arcanas, atque
occultas res per diabolorum, ac dæmonum linguas revelare, qui furtim
eas ab Angelis arrectis auribus excipiebant. Neque verò fuerunt hi
penitùs è Cœlis depulsi, unde hæc assidentes audiebant ; usque ad
adventum Mahumeti. Has flammas asserit Gelal, nihil aliud
esse, quàm كوكب مضئ يحرقه او يثقبه او يخيّله : stellam lucidam, quæ comburit, aut
penetrat, aut in stuporem amentiamque convertit eum (idest
dæmonem. Ahmed filius Adol-Halim in sua Apologia pag. mihi 353. ex
authoritate sapientum Moslemorum, & ipsius Mahumeti, vult has

verba. ومعلوم ان هذا امر يراه الناس باضارهم فان امتلاء السما بالشهب امر يراه الناس كلهم : فلو لم يكن
كذل لكان الناس يكذبون بهذا

omnes homines oculis suis : nam repleri cœlum flamma (idest
stellis volantibus) res est, quam vident
homines universi. Quòd si non fuisset ita (quandò scilicet
Mahumetus hæc legebat populis ex
Alcorano) profectò negassent, tanquam
mendacium, id, quod referebat. Mox subdit : لم ينكر ذلك احد بل تظاهرتالاخبر بمثل اخبر به القران من الرمي حتى صاروا يشكون هل ذلك من
الكواكب التي في الفلك او غيرها : وقالوا ان كان في كواكب الافلاك فهو خراب العالم فلما راوه في ما
دونها علموا انه لأمر حديث

donec dubitare cœperunt, utrum hæc à Firmamenti Stellis procederet,
an verò aliundè oriretur. Et convenerunt, quòd si ex Stellis
cęlestium Orbium emanasset, universo Orbi ruinam attulisset. Cùm
verò observassent, id sub iisdem Orbibus evenire, cognoverunt esse
rem novam. Nihilominùs subdit Auctor : وقد ظن بعض الناس ان الشهب لم يكن يرمي قبل ذلك الحال والصواب انه كان الرمي بها كما هو الان
Et jam opinati sunt quidam hominum, quòd
flamma illa, seu stella volans nunquam ante hoc tempus vibrata
fuisset. Sed certum est, eam coruscasse aliquandò anteà, sicut nunc,
& affirmat hoc Sahihus Moslemi. Non est hìc omittendum id,
quod refert Albacharius parte sexta Traditionum Alcoranicarum : nimirùm,
Dæmonem quendam dixisse Zarkę Reginæ Arabiæ felicis, quæ erat
famosissima præstigiatrix, dùm ob Mahumeti adventum conquereretur : احيانًا كما ثبته صحيح مسلم &c. لقد نزل بنا الامر اكثر نزل بك : كنّا نصعد الى السموات نسترق السمع الى ان بعث المسيح ابن مريم
فطردنا من اربع سموات فلما كان في هذه الايام طردنا من السموات كلها اسمعنا منادياً ينادي في
السموات العلى الله عز وجل يريد ان يظهر رسوله وحبيبه ليكسر الاصنام

arcana cœlestia : donec missus est Christus filius Mariæ, & tunc
ejecti sumus è quatuor Cœlis. His verò diebus ex omnibus Cœlis
ejecti sumus : vocemque præconis audivimus, qui ex altissimo Cœlo
clamabat : Deus potens, & gloriosus manifestare vult Legatum
suum, & dilectum suum, ut confringat idola, &c.
Nihil magis insulsum, ac
ridiculum poterat excogitari. Hoc unum abundè ostendit, Alcoranum non
posse esse à Deo, cùm adeò absurda, atque insana contineat. Quid enim ?
Habent ne Dæmones auriculas, vel Angelorum voces materiales sunt, ac
sonoræ : itaut illi ad has furtim excipiendas excubare debeant ad
foramina, vel fissuras Cœlorum ? Verùm Moslemorum crassitiei potest hoc
aliqualiter condonari. Sed quid dicemus de ejectione Dæmonum è turribus
Cœli per jactum illarum flammarum, quas Meteorologi sydera discurrentia,
seu volantia, vel stellas cadentes appellant ? Quis unquam somniavit
hujusmodi flammas, nonnisi ad Mahumeti adventum cæpisse videri : anteà
verò, vel visas non fuisse, vel rariùs apparuisse, cùm hujuscemodi
Meteorologicæ impressiones semper eodem modo, tàm ante, quàm post
adventum Mahumeti ubique, & ab omnibus visæ fuerint, ut patet ex
suprà allegatis Virgilii versibus : & ex Aristotele lib. 1. Meteor.
cap. 4. & 5. Quid verò efficere possunt in Dæmonibus hæ flammæ, cùm
hi spiritus sint incorporei, neque à materialibus flammis lædi possint,
saltem eo modo, quem fingunt Mahumetani ? Prætereà certissimum est,
Meteora prædicta in Orbibus Cœlestibus non gigni, quemadmodum
Adversarius ipse fatetur : sed sub Cœlo Lunæ in secunda aeris regione,
remotissimè ab infimo Cœlo, ad quod certum est, ea non pertingere. Imò
plerumque non sursum, sed obliquè, & in transversum moventur, &
aliquandò etiam deorsum feruntur, ut asserit Aristoteles loco citato his
verbis : Aut in sublime fertur, vel ad

«الر» الله أعلم بمراده بذلك «تلك» هذه الآيات «آيات الكتاب» القرآن والإضافة بمعنى من «وقرآن مبين» مظهر للحق من الباطل عطف بزيادة صفة.

«رُبَّمَا» بالتشديد والتخفيف «يود» يتمنى «الذين كفروا» يوم القيامة إذا عاينوا حالهم وحال المسلمين «لو كانوا مسلمين» ورب للتكثير فإنه يكثر منهم تمني ذلك وقيل للتقليل فإن الأهوال تدهشهم فلا يفيقون حتى يتمنوا ذلك إلا في أحيان قليلة.

«ذرهم» اترك الكفار يا محمد «يأكلوا ويتمتعوا» بدنياهم «ويلههم» يشغلهم «الأمل» بطول العمر وغيره عن الإيمان «فسوف يعلمون» عاقبة أمرهم وهذا قبل الأمر بالقتال.

«وما أهلكنا من» زائدة «قرية» أريد أهلها «إلا ولها كتاب» أجل «معلوم» محدود لإهلاكها.

«ما تسبق من» زائدة «أمة أجلها وما يستأخرون» يتأخرون عنه.

«وقالوا» أي كفار مكة للنبي صلى الله عليه وسلم «يا أيها الذي نُزّل عليه الذكر» القرآن في زعمه «إنك لمجنون».

«ولقد جعلنا في السماء بروجا» اثني عشر: الحمل والثور والجوزاء والسرطان والأسد والسنبلة والميزان والعقرب والقوس والجدي والدلو والحوت، وهي منازل الكواكب السبعة السيارة: المريخ وله الحمل والعقرب، والزهرة ولها الثور والميزان، وعطارد وله الجوزاء والسنبلة، والقمر وله السرطان، والشمس ولها الأسد، والمشتري وله القوس والحوت، وزحل له الجدي والدلو «وزيناها» بالكواكب «للناظرين».

«وحفظناها» بالشهب «من كل شيطان رجيم» مرجوم.

«إلا» لكن «من استرق السمع» خطفه «فأتبعه شهاب مبين» كوكب يضيء ويحرقه أو يثقبه أو يخبله.

«والأرض مددناها» بسطناها «وألقينا فيها رواسي» جبالا ثوابت لئلا تتحرك بأهلها «وأنبتنا فيها من كل شيء موزون» معلوم مقدر.

«وأرسلنا الرياح لواقح» تلقح السحاب فيمتلئ ماء «فأنزلنا من السماء» السحاب «ماء» مطرا «فأسقيناكموه وما أنتم له بخازنين» أي ليست خزائنه بأيديكم.

«وإن ربك هو يحشرهم إنه حكيم» في صنعه «عليم» بخلقه.

«والجان» أبا الجان وهو إبليس «خلقناه من قبل» أي قبل خلق آدم «من نار السموم» هي نار لا دخان لها تنفذ من المسام.
