سورة الصافات
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
1
وَالصَّافَّاتِ صَفًّا
2
فَالزَّاجِرَاتِ زَجْرًا
3
فَالتَّالِيَاتِ ذِكْرًا
4
إِنَّ إِلَهَكُمْ لَوَاحِدٌ
5
رَّبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَرَبُّ
الْمَشَارِقِ
6
إِنَّا زَيَّنَّا السَّمَاءَ الدُّنْيَا بِزِينَةٍ الْكَوَاكِبِ
7
وَحِفْظًا مِّن كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ مَّارِدٍ
8
لَّا يَسَّمَّعُونَ إِلَى الْمَلَإِ الْأَعْلَى وَيُقْذَفُونَ مِن
كُلِّ جَانِبٍ
9
دُحُورًا وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ وَاصِبٌ
10
إِلَّا مَنْ خَطِفَ الْخَطْفَةَ فَأَتْبَعَهُ شِهَابٌ ثَاقِبٌ
11
فَاسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَهُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَم مَّنْ خَلَقْنَا إِنَّا
خَلَقْنَاهُم مِّن طِينٍ لَّازِبٍ
12
بَلْ عَجِبْتَ وَيَسْخَرُونَ
13
وَإِذَا ذُكِّرُوا لَا يَذْكُرُونَ
14
وَإِذَا رَأَوْا آيَةً يَسْتَسْخِرُونَ
15
وَقَالُوا إِنْ هَذَا إِلَّا سِحْرٌ مُّبِينٌ
16
أَإِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَامًا أَإِنَّا
لَمَبْعُوثُونَ
17
أَوَآبَاؤُنَا الْأَوَّلُونَ
18
قُلْ نَعَمْ وَأَنتُمْ دَاخِرُونَ
19
فَإِنَّمَا هِيَ زَجْرَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ فَإِذَا هُمْ يَنظُرُونَ
20
وَقَالُوا يَا وَيْلَنَا هَذَا يَوْمُ الدِّينِ
21
هَذَا يَوْمُ الْفَصْلِ الَّذِي كُنتُم بِهِ تُكَذِّبُونَ
22
احْشُرُوا الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا وَأَزْوَاجَهُمْ وَمَا كَانُوا
يَعْبُدُونَ
23
مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ فَاهْدُوهُمْ إِلَى صِرَاطِ الْجَحِيمِ
24
وَقِفُوهُمْ إِنَّهُم مَّسْئُولُونَ
25
مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنَاصَرُونَ
26
بَلْ هُمُ الْيَوْمَ مُسْتَسْلِمُونَ
27
وَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَى بَعْضٍ يَتَسَاءَلُونَ
28
قَالُوا إِنَّكُمْ كُنتُمْ تَأْتُونَنَا عَنِ الْيَمِينِ
29
قَالُوا بَل لَّمْ تَكُونُوا مُؤْمِنِينَ
30
وَمَا كَانَ لَنَا عَلَيْكُم مِّن سُلْطَانٍ بَلْ كُنتُمْ قَوْمًا
طَاغِينَ
31
فَحَقَّ عَلَيْنَا قَوْلُ رَبِّنَا إِنَّا لَذَائِقُونَ
32
فَأَغْوَيْنَاكُمْ إِنَّا كُنَّا غَاوِينَ
33
فَإِنَّهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ فِي الْعَذَابِ مُشْتَرِكُونَ
34
إِنَّا كَذَلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِالْمُجْرِمِينَ
35
إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا إِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ
يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ
36
وَيَقُولُونَ أَئِنَّا لَتَارِكُو آلِهَتِنَا لِشَاعِرٍ
مَّجْنُونٍ
37
بَلْ جَاءَ بِالْحَقِّ وَصَدَّقَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ
38
إِنَّكُمْ لَذَائِقُو الْعَذَابِ الْأَلِيمِ
39
وَمَا تُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
40
إِلَّا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ الْمُخْلَصِينَ
41
أُولَئِكَ لَهُمْ رِزْقٌ مَّعْلُومٌ
42
فَوَاكِهُ وَهُم مُّكْرَمُونَ
43
فِي جَنَّاتِ النَّعِيمِ
44
عَلَى سُرُرٍ مُّتَقَابِلِينَ
45
يُطَافُ عَلَيْهِم بِكَأْسٍ مِّن مَّعِينٍ
46
بَيْضَاءَ لَذَّةٍ لِّلشَّارِبِينَ
47
لَا فِيهَا غَوْلٌ وَلَا هُمْ عَنْهَا يُنزَفُونَ
48
وَعِندَهُمْ قَاصِرَاتُ الطَّرْفِ عِينٌ
49
كَأَنَّهُنَّ بَيْضٌ مَّكْنُونٌ
50
فَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَى بَعْضٍ يَتَسَاءَلُونَ
51
قَالَ قَائِلٌ مِّنْهُمْ إِنِّي كَانَ لِي قَرِينٌ
52
يَقُولُ أَإِنَّكَ لَمِنَ الْمُصَدِّقِينَ
53
أَإِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَامًا أَإِنَّا
لَمَدِينُونَ
54
قَالَ هَلْ أَنتُم مُّطَّلِعُونَ
55
فَاطَّلَعَ فَرَآهُ فِي سَوَاءِ الْجَحِيمِ
56
قَالَ تَاللَّهِ إِن كِدتَّ لَتُرْدِينِ
57
وَلَوْلَا نِعْمَةُ رَبِّي لَكُنتُ مِنَ الْمُحْضَرِينَ
58
أَفَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَيِّتِينَ
59
إِلَّا مَوْتَتَنَا الْأُولَى وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ
60
إِنَّ هَذَا لَهُوَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ
61
لِمِثْلِ هَذَا فَلْيَعْمَلِ الْعَامِلُونَ
62
أَذَلِكَ خَيْرٌ نُّزُلًا أَمْ شَجَرَةُ الزَّقُّومِ
63
إِنَّا جَعَلْنَاهَا فِتْنَةً لِّلظَّالِمِينَ
64
إِنَّهَا شَجَرَةٌ تَخْرُجُ فِي أَصْلِ الْجَحِيمِ
65
طَلْعُهَا كَأَنَّهُ رُءُوسُ الشَّيَاطِينِ
66
فَإِنَّهُمْ لَآكِلُونَ مِنْهَا فَمَالِئُونَ مِنْهَا الْبُطُونَ
67
ثُمَّ إِنَّ لَهُمْ عَلَيْهَا لَشَوْبًا مِّنْ حَمِيمٍ
68
ثُمَّ إِنَّ مَرْجِعَهُمْ لَإِلَى الْجَحِيمِ
69
إِنَّهُمْ أَلْفَوْا آبَاءَهُمْ ضَالِّينَ
70
فَهُمْ عَلَى آثَارِهِمْ يُهْرَعُونَ
71
وَلَقَدْ ضَلَّ قَبْلَهُمْ أَكْثَرُ الْأَوَّلِينَ
72
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا فِيهِم مُّنذِرِينَ
73
فَانظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الْمُنذَرِينَ
74
إِلَّا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ الْمُخْلَصِينَ
75
وَلَقَدْ نَادَانَا نُوحٌ فَلَنِعْمَ الْمُجِيبُونَ
76
وَنَجَّيْنَاهُ وَأَهْلَهُ مِنَ الْكَرْبِ الْعَظِيمِ
77
وَجَعَلْنَا ذُرِّيَّتَهُ هُمُ الْبَاقِينَ
78
وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِي الْآخِرِينَ
79
سَلَامٌ عَلَى نُوحٍ فِي الْعَالَمِينَ
80
إِنَّا كَذَلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ
81
إِنَّهُ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا الْمُؤْمِنِينَ
82
ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا الْآخَرِينَ
83
وَإِنَّ مِن شِيعَتِهِ لَإِبْرَاهِيمَ
84
إِذْ جَاءَ رَبَّهُ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِيمٍ
85
إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِ مَاذَا تَعْبُدُونَ
86
أَئِفْكًا آلِهَةً دُونَ اللَّهِ تُرِيدُونَ
87
فَمَا ظَنُّكُم بِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ
88
فَنَظَرَ نَظْرَةً فِي النُّجُومِ
89
فَقَالَ إِنِّي سَقِيمٌ
90
فَتَوَلَّوْا عَنْهُ مُدْبِرِينَ
91
فَرَاغَ إِلَى آلِهَتِهِمْ فَقَالَ أَلَا تَأْكُلُونَ
92
مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنطِقُونَ
93
فَرَاغَ عَلَيْهِمْ ضَرْبًا بِالْيَمِينِ
94
فَأَقْبَلُوا إِلَيْهِ يَزِفُّونَ
95
قَالَ أَتَعْبُدُونَ مَا تَنْحِتُونَ
96
وَاللَّهُ خَلَقَكُمْ وَمَا تَعْمَلُونَ
97
قَالُوا ابْنُوا لَهُ بُنْيَانًا فَأَلْقُوهُ فِي الْجَحِيمِ
98
فَأَرَادُوا بِهِ كَيْدًا فَجَعَلْنَاهُمُ الْأَسْفَلِينَ
99
وَقَالَ إِنِّي ذَاهِبٌ إِلَى رَبِّي سَيَهْدِينِ
100
رَبِّ هَبْ لِي مِنَ الصَّالِحِينَ
101
فَبَشَّرْنَاهُ بِغُلَامٍ حَلِيمٍ
102
فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ مَعَهُ السَّعْيَ قَالَ يَا بُنَيَّ إِنِّي أَرَى
فِي الْمَنَامِ أَنِّي أَذْبَحُكَ فَانظُرْ مَاذَا تَرَى قَالَ يَا أَبَتِ افْعَلْ مَا
تُؤْمَرُ سَتَجِدُنِي إِن شَاءَ اللَّهُ مِنَ الصَّابِرِينَ

فَلَمَّا أَسْلَمَا وَتَلَّهُ لِلْجَبِينِ
104
وَنَادَيْنَاهُ أَن يَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ
105
قَدْ صَدَّقْتَ الرُّؤْيَا إِنَّا كَذَلِكَ نَجْزِي
الْمُحْسِنِينَ
106
إِنَّ هَذَا لَهُوَ الْبَلَاءُ الْمُبِينُ
107
وَفَدَيْنَاهُ بِذِبْحٍ عَظِيمٍ
108
وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِي الْآخِرِينَ
109
سَلَامٌ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ
110
كَذَلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ
111
إِنَّهُ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا الْمُؤْمِنِينَ
112
وَبَشَّرْنَاهُ بِإِسْحَاقَ نَبِيًّا مِّنَ الصَّالِحِينَ
113
وَبَارَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَى إِسْحَاقَ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِهِمَا
مُحْسِنٌ وَظَالِمٌ لِّنَفْسِهِ مُبِينٌ
114
وَلَقَدْ مَنَنَّا عَلَى مُوسَى وَهَارُونَ
115
وَنَجَّيْنَاهُمَا وَقَوْمَهُمَا مِنَ الْكَرْبِ الْعَظِيمِ
116
وَنَصَرْنَاهُمْ فَكَانُوا هُمُ الْغَالِبِينَ
117
وَآتَيْنَاهُمَا الْكِتَابَ الْمُسْتَبِينَ
118
وَهَدَيْنَاهُمَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ
119
وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِمَا فِي الْآخِرِينَ
120
سَلَامٌ عَلَى مُوسَى وَهَارُونَ
121
إِنَّا كَذَلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ
122
إِنَّهُمَا مِنْ عِبَادِنَا الْمُؤْمِنِينَ
123
وَإِنَّ إِلْيَاسَ لَمِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ
124
إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ
125
أَتَدْعُونَ بَعْلًا وَتَذَرُونَ أَحْسَنَ الْخَالِقِينَ
126
اللَّهَ رَبَّكُمْ وَرَبَّ آبَائِكُمُ الْأَوَّلِينَ
127
فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَإِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ
128
إِلَّا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ الْمُخْلَصِينَ
129
وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِي الْآخِرِينَ
130
سَلَامٌ عَلَى إِلْ يَاسِينَ
131
إِنَّا كَذَلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ
132
إِنَّهُ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا الْمُؤْمِنِينَ
133
وَإِنَّ لُوطًا لَّمِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ
134
إِذْ نَجَّيْنَاهُ وَأَهْلَهُ أَجْمَعِينَ
135
إِلَّا عَجُوزًا فِي الْغَابِرِينَ
136
ثُمَّ دَمَّرْنَا الْآخَرِينَ
137
وَإِنَّكُمْ لَتَمُرُّونَ عَلَيْهِم مُّصْبِحِينَ
138
وَبِاللَّيْلِ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ
139
وَإِنَّ يُونُسَ لَمِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ
140
إِذْ أَبَقَ إِلَى الْفُلْكِ الْمَشْحُونِ
141
فَسَاهَمَ فَكَانَ مِنَ الْمُدْحَضِينَ
142
فَالْتَقَمَهُ الْحُوتُ وَهُوَ مُلِيمٌ
143
فَلَوْلَا أَنَّهُ كَانَ مِنَ الْمُسَبِّحِينَ
144
لَلَبِثَ فِي بَطْنِهِ إِلَى يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ
145
فَنَبَذْنَاهُ بِالْعَرَاءِ وَهُوَ سَقِيمٌ
146
وَأَنبَتْنَا عَلَيْهِ شَجَرَةً مِّن يَقْطِينٍ
147
وَأَرْسَلْنَاهُ إِلَى مِائَةِ أَلْفٍ أَوْ يَزِيدُونَ
148
فَآمَنُوا فَمَتَّعْنَاهُمْ إِلَى حِينٍ
149
فَاسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَلِرَبِّكَ الْبَنَاتُ وَلَهُمُ الْبَنُونَ
150
أَمْ خَلَقْنَا الْمَلَائِكَةَ إِنَاثًا وَهُمْ شَاهِدُونَ
151
أَلَا إِنَّهُم مِّنْ إِفْكِهِمْ لَيَقُولُونَ
152
وَلَدَ اللَّهُ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَكَاذِبُونَ
153
أَصْطَفَى الْبَنَاتِ عَلَى الْبَنِينَ
154
مَا لَكُمْ كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُونَ
155
أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ
156
أَمْ لَكُمْ سُلْطَانٌ مُّبِينٌ
157
فَأْتُوا بِكِتَابِكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَادِقِينَ
158
وَجَعَلُوا بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الْجِنَّةِ نَسَبًا وَلَقَدْ عَلِمَتِ
الْجِنَّةُ إِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ

سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ
160
إِلَّا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ الْمُخْلَصِينَ
161
فَإِنَّكُمْ وَمَا تَعْبُدُونَ
162
مَا أَنتُمْ عَلَيْهِ بِفَاتِنِينَ
163
إِلَّا مَنْ هُوَ صَالِ الْجَحِيمِ
164
وَمَا مِنَّا إِلَّا لَهُ مَقَامٌ مَّعْلُومٌ
165
وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ الصَّافُّونَ
166
وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ الْمُسَبِّحُونَ
167
وَإِن كَانُوا لَيَقُولُونَ
168
لَوْ أَنَّ عِندَنَا ذِكْرًا مِّنَ الْأَوَّلِينَ
169
لَكُنَّا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ الْمُخْلَصِينَ
170
فَكَفَرُوا بِهِ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ
171
وَلَقَدْ سَبَقَتْ كَلِمَتُنَا لِعِبَادِنَا الْمُرْسَلِينَ
172
إِنَّهُمْ لَهُمُ الْمَنصُورُونَ
173
وَإِنَّ جُندَنَا لَهُمُ الْغَالِبُونَ
174
فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّى حِينٍ
175
وَأَبْصِرْهُمْ فَسَوْفَ يُبْصِرُونَ
176
أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونَ
177
فَإِذَا نَزَلَ بِسَاحَتِهِمْ فَسَاءَ صَبَاحُ الْمُنذَرِينَ
178
وَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّى حِينٍ
179
وَأَبْصِرْ فَسَوْفَ يُبْصِرُونَ
180
سُبْحَانَ رَبِّكَ رَبِّ الْعِزَّةِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ
181
وَسَلَامٌ عَلَى الْمُرْسَلِينَ
182
وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ
Les rangés (As-Saffat)
1
Par ceux qui sont rangés en rangs.
2
Par ceux qui poussent (les nuages) avec force.
3
Par ceux qui récitent, en rappel :
4
« Votre Dieu est en vérité unique,
5
le Seigneur des cieux et de la terre et de ce qui existe entre
eux et Seigneur des Levants »
6
Nous avons décoré le ciel le plus proche d’un décor : les
étoiles,
7
afin de le protéger contre tout diable rebelle.
8
Ils ne pourront être à l’écoute des dignitaires suprêmes [les
Anges] ; car ils seront harcelés de tout côté,
9
et refoulés. Et ils auront un châtiment perpétuel.
10
Sauf celui qui saisit au vol quelque [information] ; il est alors
pourchassé par un météore transperçant.
11
Demande-leur s’ils sont plus difficiles à créer que ceux que
Nous avons créés ? Car Nous les avons créés de boue collante !
12
Mais tu t’étonnes, et ils se moquent !
13
Et quand on le leur rappelle (le Coran), ils ne se rappellent
pas ;
14
et quand ils voient un prodige, ils cherchent à s’en moquer,
15
et disent : « Ceci n’est que magie évidente.
16
Lorsque nous serons morts et que nous deviendrons poussière et
ossements, serons-nous ressuscités ?
17
ainsi que nos premiers ancêtres ? »
18
Dis : « Oui ! et vous vous humilierez ».
19
Il n’y aura qu’un seul Cri, et voilà qu’ils regarderont,
20
et ils diront : « Malheur à nous ! c’est le jour de la
Rétribution ».
21
« C’est le jour du Jugement que vous traitiez de mensonge ».
22
« Rassemblez les injustes et leurs épouses et tout ce qu’ils
adoraient,
23
en dehors d’Allah. Puis conduisez-les au chemin de la
Fournaise.
24
Et arrêtez-les : car ils doivent être interrogés ».
25
« Pourquoi ne vous portez-vous pas secours mutuellement ? »
26
Mais ce jour-là, ils seront complètement soumis,
27
et les uns se tourneront vers les autres s’interrogeant
mutuellement ;
28
Ils diront : « C’est vous qui nous forciez (à la mécréance) ».
29
« C’est vous plutôt (diront les chefs) qui ne vouliez pas
croire.
30
Et nous n’avions aucun pouvoir sur vous. C’est vous plutôt qui
étiez des gens transgresseurs.
31
La parole de notre Seigneur s’est donc réalisée contre nous ;
certes, nous allons goûter [au châtiment].
32
Nous vous avons induits en erreur car, en vérité, nous étions
égarés nous-mêmes ».
33
Ce jour-là donc, ils seront tous associés dans le châtiment.
34
Ainsi traitons-Nous les criminels.
35
Quand on leur disait : « Point de divinité à part Allah », ils se
gonflaient d’orgueil,
36
et disaient : « Allons-nous abandonner nos divinités pour un poète
fou ? »
37
Il est plutôt venu avec la Vérité et il a confirmé les messagers
(précédents).
38
Vous allez certes, goûter au châtiment douloureux.
39
Et vous ne serez rétribués que selon ce que vous œuvriez,
40
sauf les serviteurs élus d’Allah,
41
Ceux-là auront une rétribution bien connue :
42
des fruits, et ils seront honorés,
43
dans les Jardins du délice,
44
sur des lits, face à face.
45
On fera circuler entre eux une coupe d’eau remplie à une
source
46
blanche, savoureuse à boire,
47
Elle n’offusquera point leur raison et ne les enivrera pas.
48
Et Ils auront auprès d’eux des belles aux grands yeux, au regard
chaste,
49
semblables au blanc bien préservé de l’œuf.
50
Puis les uns se tourneront vers les autres s’interrogeant
mutuellement.
51
L’un d’eux dira : « J’avais un compagnon
52
qui disait : « Es-tu vraiment de ceux qui croient ?
53
Est-ce que quand nous mourrons et serons poussière et ossements,
nous aurons à rendre des comptes ? »
54
Il dira : « Est-ce que vous voudriez regarder d’en haut ? »
55
Alors il regardera d’en haut et il le verra en plein dans la
Fournaise,
56
et dira : « Par Allah ! Tu as bien failli causer ma perte !
57
et sans le bienfait de mon Seigneur, j’aurais certainement été
du nombre de ceux qu’on traîne [au supplice].
58
N’est-il pas vrai que nous ne mourrons
59
que de notre première mort et que nous ne serons pas
châtiés ? »
60
C’est cela, certes, le grand succès.
61
C’est pour une chose pareille que doivent ouvrer ceux qui
ouvrent.
62
Est-ce que ceci est meilleur comme séjour, ou l’arbre de
Zaqqûm ?
63
Nous l’avons assigné en épreuve aux injustes.
64
C’est un arbre qui sort du fond de la Fournaise.
65
Ses fruits sont comme des têtes de diables.
66
Ils doivent certainement en manger et ils doivent s’en remplir
le ventre.
67
Ensuite ils auront par-dessus une mixture d’eau bouillante.
68
Puis leur retour sera vers la Fournaise.
69
C’est qu’ils ont trouvé leurs ancêtres dans l’égarement,
70
et les voilà courant sur leurs traces.
71
En effet, avant eux, la plupart des anciens se sont égarés.
72
Et Nous avions certes envoyé parmi eux des avertisseurs.
73
Regarde donc ce qu’il est advenu de ceux qui ont été
avertis !
74
Exception faite des élus, parmi les serviteurs d’Allah :
75
Noé, en effet, fit appel à Nous qui sommes le Meilleur Répondeur
(qui exauce les prières).
76

Du nombre de ses coreligionnaires, certes, fut Abraham.

Quand il vint à son Seigneur avec un cœur sain.

Quand il dit à son père et à son peuple : « Qu’est-ce que vous
adorez ? »

Cherchez-vous dans votre égarement, des divinités en dehors
d’Allah ?

Que pensez-vous du Seigneur de l’univers ? »

et dit : « Je suis malade ».

Nous mîmes à bas.

Et il dit : « Moi, je pars vers mon Seigneur et Il me guidera.

Seigneur, fais-moi don d’une [progéniture] d’entre les
vertueux ».

Nous lui fîmes donc la bonne annonce d’un garçon (Ismaël)
longanime.

Puis quand celui-ci fut en âge de l’accompagner, [Abraham] dit :
« O mon fils, je me vois en songe en train de t’immoler. Vois donc ce que tu en
penses ». (Ismaël) dit : « O mon cher père, fais ce qui t’es commandé: tu me
trouveras, s’il plaît à Allah, du nombre des endurants ».

Puis quand tous deux se furent soumis (à l’ordre d’Allah) et

voilà que Nous l’appelâmes « Abraham !

Et Nous accordâmes certes à Moïse et Aaron des faveurs,

Ils crurent, et nous leur donnâmes jouissance de la vie pour un

Pose-leur donc la question : « Ton Seigneur aurait-Il des filles
et eux des fils ?

Ou bien avons-Nous créé des Anges de sexe féminin, et en

Certes, ils disent dans leur mensonge :

« Allah a engendré » mais ce sont certainement des menteurs !

Aurait-Il choisi des filles de préférence à des fils ?

We have adorned the lower heaven with the adornment of the stars

and to preserve against every rebel Satan;

they listen not to the High Council, for they are pelted from every side,

rejected, and theirs is an everlasting chastisement,
10
except such as snatches a fragment, and he is pursued by a piercing flame.
11
So ask them for a pronouncement -- Are they stronger in constitution, or those We created? We created them of clinging clay.
12
Nay, thou marvellest; and they scoff
13
and, when reminded, do not remember
14
and, when they see a sign, would scoff;
15
and they say, ‘This is nothing but manifest sorcery.
16
What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be raised up?
17
What, and our fathers, the ancients?’
18
Say: ‘Yes, and in all lowliness.’
19
For it is only a single scaring, then behold, they are watching
20
and they say, ‘Woe, alas for us! This is the Day of Doom.’
21
‘This is the Day of Decision, even that you cried lies to.
22
Muster those who did evil, their wives, and that they were serving,
23
apart from God, and guide them unto the path of Hell!

And halt them, to be questioned:

"Why help you not one another?"

No indeed; but today they resign themselves in submission

and advance one upon another, asking each other questions.

These say, ‘Why, you of old would come to us from the right hand.’

Those say, ‘No; on the contrary, you were not believers;
30
we had no authority over you; no, you were an insolent people.
31
So our Lord’s Word is realised against us; we are tasting it.
32
Therefore we perverted you, and we ourselves were perverts.’
33
So all of them on that day are sharers in the chastisement.

Even so We do with the sinners;
35
for when it was said to them, ‘There is no god but God,’ they were ever waxing proud,
36
saying, ‘What, shall we forsake our gods for a poet possessed?’

‘No indeed; but he brought the truth, and confirmed the Envoys.
38
Now certainly you shall be tasting the painful chastisement,

and not be recompensed, except according to what you were doing.’

Except for God’s sincere servants;

for them awaits a known provision,

fruits -- and they high-honoured

in the Gardens of Bliss

upon couches, set face to face,

a cup from a spring being passed round to them,

white, a delight to the drinkers,

and with them wide-eyed maidens restraining their glances

as if they were hidden pearls.

They advance one upon another, asking each other questions.

One of them says, ‘I had a comrade

who would say, "Are you a confirmer?

What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be requited?"

Then afterwards We drowned the rest.

Of his party was also Abraham;

when he came unto his Lord with a pure heart,

when he said to his father and his folk, ‘What do you serve?

Is it a calumny, gods apart from God, that you desire?

What think you then of the Lord of all Being?’

And he cast a glance at the stars,

and he said, ‘Surely I am sick.’

But they went away from him, turning their backs.

So ask them for a pronouncement -- Has thy Lord daughters, and they sons?

Or did We create the angels females, while they were witnesses?

Is it not of their own calumny that they say,

‘God has begotten?’ They are truly liars.

Has He chosen daughters above sons?

What ails you then, how you judge?

What, and will you not remember?

Or have you a clear authority?

Bring your Book, if you speak truly!

They have set up a kinship between Him and the jinn; and the jinn know that they shall be arraigned.

Glory be to God above that they describe,

except for God’s sincere servants.

But as for you, and that you serve,

you shall not tempt any against Him

except him who shall roast in Hell.

None of us is there, but has a known station;

we are the rangers,

we are they that give glory.

What though they would say,

‘If only we had had a Reminder from the ancients,

then were we God’s sincere servants.’

But they disbelieved in it; soon they shall know!

Already Our Word has preceded to Our servants, the Envoys;

assuredly they shall be helped,

and Our host -- they are the victors.

So turn thou from them for a while,

and see them; soon they shall see!

What, do they seek to hasten Our chastisement?

When it lights in their courtyard, how evil will be the morning of them that are warned!

Glory be to thy Lord, the Lord of Glory, above that they describe!

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

By those who set the ranks in battle order"

And those who drive away (the wicked) with reproof"
3
And those who read (the Word) for a reminder,
4
Lo! thy Lord is surely One;
5
Lord of the heavens and of the earth and all that is between them, and Lord of the sun’s risings.

Lo! We have adorned the lowest heaven with an ornament, the planets;
7
With security from every froward devil.
8
They cannot listen to the Highest Chiefs for they are pelted from every side,
9
Outcast, and theirs is a perpetual torment;
10
Save him who snatcheth a fragment, and there pursueth him a piercing flame.
11
Then ask them (O Muḥammad): Are they stronger as a creation, or those (others) whom we have created? Lo! We created them of plastic clay.
12
Nay, but thou dost marvel when they mock"

And heed not when they are reminded,

And seek to scoff when they behold a portent.

And they say: Lo! this is mere magic;
16
When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then, forsooth, be raised (again)?

And our forefathers?

Say (O Muḥammad): Ye, in truth; and ye will be brought low.
19
There is but one Shout, and lo! they behold,
20
And say: Ah, woe for us! This is the Day of Judgment.
21
This is the Day of Separation, which ye used to deny.
22
(And it is said unto the angels): Assemble those who did wrong, together with their wives and what they used to worship"

Instead of Allah, and lead them to the path to hell;
24
And stop them, for they must be questioned.
25
What aileth you that ye help not one another?
26
Nay, but this day they make full submission.
27
And some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning.
28
They say: Lo! ye used to come unto us, imposing, (swearing that ye spoke the truth).
29
They answer: Nay, but ye (yourselves) were not believers.
30
We had no power over you, but ye were wayward folk.
31
Now the Word of our Lord hath been fulfilled concerning us. Lo! we are about to taste (the doom).
32
Thus we misled you. Lo! we were (ourselves) astray.
33
Then lo! this day they (both) are sharers in the doom.
34
Lo! thus deal We with the guilty.
35
For when it was said unto them, There is no Allah save Allah, they were scornful"

And said: Shall we forsake our gods for a mad poet?
37
Nay, but he brought the Truth, and he confirmed those sent (before him).

Lo! (now) verily ye taste the painful doom -

Ye are requited naught save what ye did -
40
Save single-minded slaves of Allah;
41
For them there is a known provision,
42
Fruits. And they will be honoured"

In the Gardens of delight,
44
On couches facing one another;
45
A cup from a gushing spring is brought round for them,
46
White, delicious to the drinkers,
47
Wherein there is no headache nor are they made mad thereby.
48
And with them are those of modest gaze, with lovely eyes,
49
(Pure) as they were hidden eggs (of the ostrich).
50
And some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning.
51
A speaker of them saith: Lo! I had a comrade"
52
Who used to say: Art thou in truth of those who put faith (in his words)?
53
Can we, when we are dead and have become mere dust and bones - can we (then) verily be brought to book?
54
He saith: Will ye look?
55
Then looketh he and seeth him in the depth of hell.
56
He saith: By Allah, thou verily didst all but cause my ruin,
57
And had it not been for the favour of my Lord, I too had been of those haled forth (to doom).
58
Are we then not to die"
59
Saving our former death, and are we not to be punished?
60
Lo! this is the supreme triumph.
61
For the like of this, then, let the workers work.
62
Is this better as a welcome, or the tree of Zaqqum?
63
Lo! We have appointed it a torment for wrong-doers.
64
Lo! it is a tree that springeth in the heart of hell.

Its crop is as it were the heads of devils"

And lo! they verily must eat thereof, and fill (their) bellies therewith.
67
And afterward, lo! thereupon they have a drink of boiling water"

And afterward, lo! their return is surely unto hell.

They indeed found their fathers astray,

But they make haste (to follow) in their footsteps.

And verily most of the men of old went astray before them,

And verily We sent among them warners.

Then see the nature of the consequence for those warned,

Save single-minded slaves of Allah.

And Noah verily prayed unto Us, and gracious was the Hearer of his prayer"

And We saved him and his household from the great distress,
77
And made his seed the survivors,
78
And left for him among the later folk (the salutation):

Peace be unto Noah among the peoples!

Lo! thus do We reward the good.
81
Lo! he is one of Our believing slaves.

Then We did drown the others.

And lo! of his persuasion verily was Abraham"

When he came unto his Lord with a whole heart;
85
When he said unto his father and his folk: What is it that ye worship?

Is it a falsehood - gods beside Allah - that ye desire?
87
What then is your opinion of the Lord of the Worlds?

And he glanced a glance at the stars"

Then said: Lo! I feel sick!
90
And they turned their backs and went away from him.

Then turned he to their gods and said: Will ye not eat?

What aileth you that ye speak not?

Then he attacked them, striking with his right hand.

And (his people) came toward him, hastening.

He said: Worship ye that which ye yourselves do carve"

When Allah hath created you and what ye make?

They said: Build for him a building and fling him in the red-hotfire.

And they designed a snare for him, but We made them the undermost.

And he said: Lo! I am going unto my Lord Who will guide me.

My Lord! Vouchsafe me of the righteous.

So We gave him tidings of a gentle son.

And when (his son) was old enough to walk with him, (Abraham) said: O my dear son, I have seen in a dream that I must sacrifice thee. So look, what thinkest thou? He said: O my father! Do that which thou art commanded. Allah willing, thou shalt find me of the steadfast.

Then, when they had both surrendered (to Allah), and he had flung him down upon his face,

We called unto him: O Abraham!

Thou hast already fulfilled the vision. Lo! thus do We reward the good.

Lo! that verily was a clear test.

Then We ransomed him with a tremendous victim.

And We left for him among the later folk (the salutation):

Peace be unto Abraham!

And we gave him tidings of the birth of Isaac, a prophet of the righteous.

And We blessed him and Isaac. And of their seed are some who do good, and some who plainly wrong themselves.

And We verily gave grace unto Moses and Aaron,

And saved them and their people from the great distress,

And helped them so that they became the victors.

And We gave them the clear Scripture"

When We saved him and his household, every one,

Save an old woman among those who stayed behind;

Then We destroyed the others.

And lo! ye verily pass by (the ruin of) them in the morning"

And at night-time; have ye then no sense?

And lo! Jonah verily was of those sent (to warn)

When he fled unto the laden ship,

And then drew lots and was of those rejected;

And the fish swallowed him while he was blameworthy;

And had he not been one of those who glorify (Allah)

He would have tarried in its belly till the day when they are raised;
145
Then We cast him on a desert shore while he was sick;
146
And We caused a tree of gourd to grow above him;
147
And We sent him to a hundred thousand (folk) or more"

And they believed, therefor We gave them comfort for a while.

Now ask them (O Muḥammad): Hath thy Lord daughters whereas they have sons?
150
Or created We the angels females while they were present?

Lo! it is of their falsehood that they say:

Allah hath begotten. Allah! verily they tell a lie.

(And again of their falsehood): He hath preferred daughters to sons.

What aileth you? How judge ye?
155
Will ye not then reflect?
156
Or have ye a clear warrant?
157
Then produce your writ, if ye are truthful.

And they imagine kinship between him and the jinn, whereas the jinn know well that they will be brought before (Him).

Glorified be Allah from that which they attribute (unto Him),

Save single-minded slaves of Allah.

Lo! verily, ye and that which ye worship,
162
Ye cannot excite (anyone) against Him.
163
Save him who is to burn in hell.
164
There is not one of us but hath his known position.

Lo! we, even we are they who set the ranks,

Lo! we, even we are they who hymn His praise"

And indeed they used to say:

If we had but a reminder from the men of old"

We would be single-minded slaves of Allah.

Yet (now that it is come) they disbelieve therein; but they will come to know.

And verily Our word went forth of old unto Our bondmen sent (to warn)

That they verily would be helped,

And that Our host, they verily would be the victors.

So withdraw from them (O Muḥammad) awhile,

And watch, for they will (soon) see.

Would they hasten on Our doom?

But when it cometh home to them, then it will be a hapless morn for those who have been warned.

Withdraw from them awhile"

Glorified be thy Lord, the Lord of Majesty, from that which they attribute (unto Him)

saw on the eighth night of the month Dhu’lhajja, to sacrifice his son; and to
assure him that this was not from the devil, as he was inclined to suspect,
the same vision was repeated a second time the next night, when he knew it to
be from God, and also a third time the night following, when he resolved to
obey it, and to sacrifice his son; and hence some think the 8th, 9th, and
10th days of Dhu’lhajja are called Yawm altarwiya, yawm arafat, and yawm
alnehr, that is, the day of the vision, the day of knowledge, and the day of
the sacrifice.
It is the most received opinion among the Mohammedans that the son whom
Abraham offered was Ismael, and not Isaac, Ismael being his only son at that
time: for the promise of Isaac’s birth is mentioned lower, as subsequent in
time to this transaction. They also allege the testimony of their prophet,
who is reported to have said, I am the son of the two who were offered in
sacrifice; meaning his great ancestor, Ismael, and his own father Abd’allah:
for Abd’almotalleb had made a vow that if God would permit him to find out and
open the well Zemzem, and should give him ten sons, he would sacrifice one of
them. Accordingly, when he had obtained his desire in both respects, he cast
lots on his sons, and the lot falling on Abd’allah, he redeemed him by
offering a hundred camels, which was therefore ordered to be the price of a
man’s blood in the Sonna

Qui legerit Suram Ordinantium, dabuntur ei
decem bona juxta numerum omnis genii, & Satanæ, &
elongabitur ab eo rebellio Satanarum, & purus servabitur à
polytheia : & testes erunt ei duo custodes ejus die
resurrectionis, quòd ipse crediderit in legatos.

V. Dominus Orientium. ] Jahias juxta expositionem Cottadæ. هو ثلاثة ماية وستون مشرقا وثلاثة ماية وستون مغربا
Orientes sunt trecenti sexaginta : &
totidem Occidentes. Errat in pluralitate Mundorum cum suo
Propheta.
VII. Et custodiam posuimus in eo. ] Vide, quæ de hoc figmento
fusiùs alibi dixi. Fingunt scilicet Moslemi, ita docente Alcorano, ante
Mahumeti adventum dæmonas consuevisse in orbibus cœlestibus assidere,
unde, auriculis ad Cœlorum foramina admotis, furtivè excipiebant, quæ
vel Deus Angelis revelaret, vel Angeli ipsi inter se colloquerentur :
& hæc deindè Magis, ariolis, ac Divinis manifestabant ; ut ea
ratione faciliùs homines deciperent. Exorto autem Mahumeto, Deus,
flammis injectis, dæmonas curiosiùs Angelorum sermones auribus
excipientes à tergo invasit, atque à cęlestibus Orbibus eliminavit.
X. Præter illum, qui subripuit subreptionem. ] Explicat Gelal :
اى لا يسمع الا الشيطان الذي سمع الكلمة من الملايكة فاخذها بسرعة Idest, non audient Angelicos sermones, nisi
Satanas, qui audivit nescio quid ex colloquio Angelorum, &
excepit illud cum velocitate. Idem igitur est, subripuit subreptionem, ac furtivè
semel festinanter audivit. Hic obiter repeto, quod alibi ex professo
dixi : nempè Mahumetanos putare flammas illas, quibus dæmones à Cœlis
arcentur, esse stellas, seu exhalationes ignitas, quas sæpè videmus in
aere cum summa velocitate discurrere.
XIV. Et cùm viderint aliquod signum. ] Accipit hìc Gelal signum pro miraculo : & putat
hujusmodi miraculum fuisse انشقاق القمر
scissionem lunæ, de qua fit mentio
in Alcorano. Verùm manifestè patet ex contextu, non agi hìc de ullo
miraculo, sed de signis, seu versiculis Alcorani.
XX. Vociferatio una. ] Erit hæc vociferatio juxta Jahiam النفخة الاخرة

المعدة لاهل النار وهي من اخبث الشجر المرّ بتهامة ينبتها الله في الجحيم كما سياتي
præparata est damnatis, pessima omnium
arborum Deserti ob amaritudinem : quam Deus nasci fecit in Tartaro,
ut mox sequitur in Alcorano.
LXIV. Ad contentionem iniquorum. Idest, ut de ea inter se
contenderent, ac disceptarent Infideles. Gel. اذ قالوا النار تحرق الشجر فكيف تنبته

LVI. Veluti capita Diabolorum. ] Gelal : اى الحيات القبيحة المنظر , Idest serpentes, turpissimi aspectu.
LIX. Tùm certè reditus eorum. ] Gelal : يفيد انهم يخرجون منها لشرب الحميم
Proderit ipsis, quòd egredientur ex
Gehenna ad bibendam aquam ferventem.
LXXV. Præter servos Dei sinceros. ] Nimirùm, horum finis, seu
successus erit diversus. Quidam hìc, & alibi legunt المُخْلَصِين
Salvatos : quidam verò المُخْلِصِين
Sinceros ; sed utrumque recidit in
idem.
CIV. Et prostravit eum pater in frontem. ] Videlicet super struem
lignorum facie ad terram conversa : deindè inquit Gelal : امرّ السكين على حلقه فلم يعمل شئا بمنع من القدرة الالهية
applicuit gladium gutturi ejus : sed nihil
potuit efficere, impediente eum divina potentia.
CVIII. Et redemimus eum hostia magna. ]
Loquens Gelal de hoc Abrahæ facto, ita habet وهو اسمعيل او اسحق :قولان : بذبح عظيم بكبش من الجنة وهو الذي قرّبه هابيل جاء به جبراييل فذبحه

est sententia. Hostia verò magna fuit aries Paradisi, quem obtulerat

fuisse ea forma loquendi, quam audiebat à Christianis usurpari ;
scilicet Isaac redemptum fuisse hostia magna, nempè Christo : sed nihil
tale hominem insanum cogitasse.
CXII. Et annuntiavimus ei Isaac. ] Notanda explicatio Gelalis, qua
clarè asseritur error Mahumeti, & Mahumetanorum استدل بذلك على ان الذبيح غيره
Voluit (inquit) per hoc ostendere, eum, qui immolari
jussus fuerat, fuisse alium ab Isaac : nempè Ismaelem. Quia
scilicet post commemoratam immolationem ponitur annunciatio nativitatis
Isaac. Verùm hoc ipsum ostendit oscitantiam, seu errorem Mahumeti, &
falsitatem Alcorani.
CXXIII. Et quidem Elias. ] Ita cæcutiunt
sapientes Moslemi in rebus etiam notissimis, ut de Elia ita scribat
Gelal : قيل ابن اخى هرون اخى موسى وقيل غيره ارسل الى قوم ببعلبك ونواحيها

fratris Moysi : alii tamen aliter sentiunt. Missus fuit ad populos,
qui erant in Baalbac (est regio Mesopotamiæ) & viciniis ejus.
CXLIII. Quòd si ipse non fuisset ex laudantibus.
] Gelal : بقوله كثيرا في بطن الحوت لا اله الا انت سبحانك اني كنت من الظالمين
Sæpè enim, dùm esset in ventre piscis,
dicebat : Non est alius Deus præter te. Laus tibi. Certè ego iniquè
egi.
CXLVI. Et produximus super eum plantam ex
cucurbita. ] Jahias : تظلّه بورقها ويشرب من لبنها فاظلته فنام واستيقظ وقد يبست فحزن عليها فاوحى الله اليه
Umbra foliorum suorum tegebat eum, &
bibebat de lacte ejus : cùmque sub umbra ejus quiesceret,
obdormivit. Sed, cùm evigilasset, vidit eam exaruisse. Cùmque
proptereà tristaretur, dixit ei Deus per revelationem, &c.
In eo, quod scribit Jahias, illum bibisse de lacte cucurbitæ, videtur
addendum id, quod habet Gelal : وكانت تاتيه وعلة صباحًا ومساء يشرب من لبنها حتى قوي

Alcorani sensum esse, quòd Jonas nudus à pisce ejectus fuerit : Ita enim
scribit : قد بكر لحمه وكل شي منه مثل صى المولود وهو سقيم يريد الصبى المولود وقال محمد هو المكان الخالي
وانما قيل له عراء لانه لا شجر فيه ولا شي يغطيه وكانوا عرا من الشي

concipere : quandoquidem Mahumetus tàm frequenter Deum per res creatas
jurare confingit ; quantumvis absurdissimum sit, alium præter Summam
Veritatem in testimonium veri per juramentum adducere. De quo jam suprà.
Illud verò mirabile, seu potiùs ridiculum est, Deum ad lectionem Alcorani Angelorum ordinem
destinasse.
II. Figmentum illud de ejectione
Dæmonum ab orbibus Cęlestibus post adventum Mahumeti, ne porrectis
auriculis Angelorum sermocinationes, & Cœlicolarum arcana curiosiùs
exciperent, jam superiùs explosum est, præsertim quoad eam partem, in
qua hujusmodi ejectionis, seu expulsionis non alii testes, quàm stellæ,
seu flammæ illæ volantes, quas sæpè per Cœlum aereum discurrere videmus,
adducuntur.
III. Crambem recoquit, dùm
asseclis suis Paradisi loco cauponam, seu veriùs ganeam proponit, in qua
aliud nihil, quàm de epulando, crapulando, & scortando cogitetur.
Modestiùs certè Homerus lib. 1. iliad. inducit deos in Cœlo scyphos,
quos Vulcanus singulis mero spumantes porrigebat, exhaurientes, & in
profusos risus erumpentes. Mirum verò, quòd, cùm Mahumetus vinum, utpote
Diaboli inventum, & rem abominabilem prędicet, atque adeò suis
rigidè interdicat : illud nihilominùs in Paradiso suo adeò largiter,
benignèque concedat. At enim vinum illud neque inebriabit, neque mentem
perturbabit. Esto : sed neque hìc quodlibet vinum inebriat, vel mentem
perturbat : quædam enim vina sunt suavissima quidem, sed nullam in
mente, vel cerebro perturbationem gignunt. Quin & ea ipsa, quæ
generosiora sunt, si moderatè, temperatèque sumantur, corpus, &
animum recreant, non lædunt. Non solùm autem in vino, sed etiam,
multòque magis, in venere excessus nocet, quemadmodùm in qualibet alia
re, quamvis optima. Debebat igitur Mahumetus non vinum, sed immoderatum
illius usum prohibere, quantumvis illum non prohibuerit in fœminis :
quas nescio cur singulas singulis Mahumetanis in Paradiso conjuges
assignet. Cùm enim nunquam eas parituras, aut prolem edituras apud
Mahumetanos indubitatum sit, ad solam libidinem, & suam, &
alienam explendam deservient. Hìc verò notandum est, fœminas hasce
Paradisi ibidem creatas fuisse. Quamobrem uxores, quas hìc in terris
Mahumetani habuerunt, vel à Paradiso excludentur, vel in eo morabuntur
quidem, sed perpetuò viduæ, & cum assidua Zelotypia, ac rabie, dùm
videbunt antiquos maritos suos, singulos cum sua puella deliciari, &
seipsas minimè curare. Si hæc mulieres Mahumetanę attentiùs
animadverterent, non dubito, quin Prophetæ suo quantociùs vel Vale, vel
Male dicerent.
IV. Quantum se in suo Paradiso
spurcum ; tantum in Inferno suo ridiculum se Mahumetus ostendit : dùm,
& in eo arbores verè germinare, & earum fructus Diabolorum
capitibus similes esse pronunciat : potum verò aquæ fervidæ damnatis
præbendum extra Gehennam : cibum autem ex fructibus arboris Zacum intra
ipsam Gehennam ministrandum fabulatur. Quæ si metaphoricè, vel
allegoricè dicerentur, aliquo modo possent excusari. Verùm, ut jam
monuimus, hæreticum est apud Mahumetanos, ea, quæ in Alcorano dicuntur,
non litteraliter, &, ut verba sonant, sed mysticè, figuratèque
intelligere.
V. Ea, quæ de Abraham nugatur,
cum risu explodenda lectori relinquo. Omnia olent Thalmudica Figmenta.
Non possum tamen dissimulare inscitiam tàm crassam Mahumeti, &
Mahumetanorum, dùm non solùm dubitant, uter filiorum Abrahæ, Ismael ne
scilicet, an Isaac, ad sacrificium destinatus fuerit : sed in Ismaelem
plerique propendent : quasi verò de hoc in Pentateucho dubium vel
minimum esse possit. Porrò ex Alcorano manifestè colligitur, ut notat
etiam Gelal, Mahumetum in hoc errore fuisse, dùm ponit ortum Isaac post
historiam sacrificii. Illud verò prorsùs novum, & incredibile :
Angelum Gabrielem adduxisse è Paradiso, ubi in pascuis spatiabatur,
arietem, quem olim Habel immolaverat ; ut Abraham illum pro filio suo
sacrificaret. Ita explicant Mahumetani verba illa Alcorani, Hostiam magnam. Et nihilominùs certò
credunt Mahumetani, hunc arietem, sicut etiam camelam Mahumeti, &
camelam Saleh, & asinam Christi, & canem septem Dormientium
hodie quoque in Paradiso reperiri. Et profectò non erat, cur Mahumetus
communem arietem hostiam magnam vocaret : nec dubitandum est, quin novum
aliquid, ac mirabile innuere voluerit : nisi fortè, ut in Notis
indicavi, cùm Christianis, quid diceret ignorans, loqui voluerit.
VI. Postremò notandum est hìc,
& alibi, quanta sit Mahumeti calliditas : dùm, ut se Prophetam
venditet, infligendam â Deo Meccanis pœnam prędicit. Illud scilicet
prędicebat, quod ipse animo moliebatur : Et non solum sperabat, sed ferè
certò eventurum sciebat, cùm quotidie partes suas augeri, &
Mahumetanorum imminui videret.

«والصافات صفّا» الملائكة تصف نفوسها في العبادة أو أجنحتها في الهواء تنتظر ما تؤمر به.

«فالزاجرات زجرا» الملائكة تزجر السحاب أي تسوقه.

«فالتاليات» أي قراء القرآن يتلونه «ذكرا» مصدر من معنى التاليات.

«إن إلهكم» يا أهل مكة «لواحد».

«ربُّ السماوات والأرض وما بينهما وربُّ المشارق» أي والمغارب للشمس، لها كل يوم مشرق ومغرب.

«إنَّا زينا السماء الدنيا بزينة الكواكب» أي بضوئها أو بها، والإضافة للبيان كقراءة تنوين زينة المبينة بالكواكب.

«وحفظا» منصوب بفعل مقدر: أي حفظناها بالشهب «من كل» متعلق بالمقدر «شيطان مارد» عاتٍ خارج عن الطاعة.

«لا يسمعون» أي الشياطين مستأنف، وسماعهم هو في المعنى المحفوظ عنه «إلى الملأ الأعلى» الملائكة في السماء، وعدِّي السماع بإلى لتضمنه معنى الإصغاء وفي قراءة بتشديد الميم والسين أصله يتسمعون أدغمت التاء في السين «ويقذفون» أي الشياطين بالشهب «من كل جانب» من آفاق السماء.

«دُحُورا» مصدر دحره: أي طرده وأبعده وهو مفعول له «ولهم» في الآخرة «عذاب واصب» دائم.

«إلا من خطف الخطفة» مصدر: أي المرة، والاستثناء من ضمير يسمعون: أي لا يسمع إلا الشيطان الذي سمع الكلمة من الملائكة فأخذها بسرعة «فأتبعه شهاب» كوكب مضيء «ثاقب» يثقبه أو يحرقه أو يخبله.

«فاستفتهم» استخبر كفار مكة تقريرا أو توبيخا «أهم أشد خلقا أم من خلقنا» من الملائكة والسماوات والأرضين وما فيهما وفي الإتيان بمن تغليب العقلاء «إنا خلقناهم» أي أصلهم آدم «من طين لازب» لازم يلصق باليد: المعنى أن خلقهم ضعيف فلا يتكبروا بإنكار النبي والقرآن المؤدي إلى هلاكهم اليسير.

«بل» للانتقال من غرض إلى آخر وهو الإخبار بحاله وحالهم «عجبتَ» بفتح التاء خطابا للنبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، أي من تكذيبهم إياك «و» هم «يسخرون» من تعجبك.

«وإذا ذكروا» وعظوا بالقرآن «لا يذكرون» لا يتعظون.

«وإذا رأوْا آية» كانشقاق القمر «يستسخرون» يستهزئُون بها.

«وقالوا» فيها «إن» ما «هذا إلا سحر مبين» بيّن وقالوا منكرين للبعث.

«أئذا متنا وكنا ترابا وعظاما أئنا لمبعوثون» في الهمزتين في الموضوعين التحقيق وتسهيل الثانية وإدخال ألف بينهما على الوجهين.

«أوْ آباؤنا الأولون» بسكون الواو عطفا بأو، وبفتحها والهمزة للاستفهام والعطف بالواو والمعطوف عليه محل إن واسمها أو الضمير في لمبعوثون والفاصل همزة الاستفهام.

«قل نعم» تبعثون «وأنتم داخرون» أي صاغرون.

«فإنما هي» ضمير مبهم يفسره «زجرة» أي صيحة «واحدة فإذا هم» أي الخلائق أحياء «ينظرون» ما يفعل بهم.

«وقالوا» أي الكفار «يا» للتنبيه «ويْلنا» هلاكنا، وهو مصدر لا فعل له من لفظه وتقول لهم الملائكة: «هذا يوم الدين» يوم الحساب والجزاء.

«هذا يوم الفصل» بين الخلائق «الذي كنتم به تكذبون» ويقال للملائكة.

«أُحشروا الذين ظلموا» أنفسهم بالشرك «وأزواجهم» قرناءهم من الشياطين «وما كانوا يعبدون».

«من دون الله» أي غيره من الأوثان «فاهدوهم» دلوهم وسوقوهم «إلى صراط الجحيم» طريق النار.

«وقفوهم» احبسوهم عن الصراط «إنهم مسئولون» عن جميع أقوالهم، ويقال لهم توبيخا.

«ما لكم لا تناصرون» لا ينصر بعضكم بعضا كحالكم في الدنيا ويقال لهم.

«بل هم اليوم مستسلمون» منقادون أذلاء.

«وأقبل بعضهم على بعض يتساءلون» يتلاومون ويتخاصمون.

«قالوا» أي الأتباع منهم للمتبوعين «إنكم كنتم تأتوننا عن اليمين» عن الجهة التي كنا نأمنكم منها لحلفكم أنكم على الحق فصدقناكم واتبعناكم، المعنى أنكم أضللتمونا.

«قالوا» أي المتبعون لهم «بل لم تكونوا مؤمنين» وإنما يصدق الإضلال منا أن لو كنتم مؤمنين فرجعتم عن الإيمان إلينا.

«وما كان لنا عليكم من سلطان» قوة وقدرة تقهركم على متابعتنا «بل كنتم قوما طاغين» ضالين مثلنا.

(فحق) وجب (علينا) جميعا (قول ربنا) بالعذاب: أي قوله "" لأملأن جهنم من الجنة والناس أجمعين "" (إنا) جميعا (لذائقون) العذاب بذلك القول ونشأ عنه قولهم.

«فأغويناكم» المعلل بقولهم «إنا كنا غاوين».

قال تعالى «فإنهم يومئذ» يوم القيامة «في العذاب مشتركون» أي لاشتراكهم في الغواية.

«إنا كذلك» كما نفعل بهؤلاء «نفعل بالمجرمين» غير هؤلاء: أي نعذبهم التابع منهم والمتبوع.

«إنهم» أي هؤلاء بقرينة ما بعده «كانوا إذا قيل لهم لا إله إلا الله يستكبرون».

«فواكه» بدل أو بيان للرزق وهو ما يؤكل تلذذا لحفظ صحة لأن أهل الجنة مستغنون عن حفظها بخلق أجسامهم للأبد «وهم مكرمون» بثواب الله سبحانه وتعالى.

«يطاف عليهم» على كل منهم «بكأس» هو الإناء بشرابه «من معين» من خمر يجري على وجه الأرض كأنهار الماء.

«وجعلنا ذريته هم الباقين» فالناس كلهم من نسله وكان له ثلاثة أولاد: سام وهو أبو العرب والفرس والروم، وحام وهو أبو السودان، ويافث وهو أبو الترك والخزر ويأجوج ومأجوج وما هنالك.

«وتركنا» أبقينا «عليه» ثناء حسنا «في الآخرين» من الأنبياء والأمم إلى يوم القيامة.

«وقال إني ذاهب إلى ربي» مهاجر إليه من دار الكفر «سيهدين» إلى حيث أمرني ربي بالمصير إليه وهو الشام فلما وصل إلى الأرض المقدسة قال.

«فبشرناه بغلام حليم» أي ذي حلم كثير.

«فلما بلغ معه السعي» أي أن يسعى معه ويعينه قيل بلغ سبع سنين وقيل ثلاث عشرة سنة «قال يا بنيَّ إني أرى» أي رأيت «في المنام أني أذبحك» ورؤيا الأنبياء حق وأفعالهم بأمر الله تعالى «فانظر ماذا ترى» من الرأي شاوره ليأنس بالذبح وينقاد للأمر به «قال يا أبت» التاء عوض عن ياء الإضافة «افعل ما تؤمر» به «ستجدني إن شاء الله من الصابرين» على ذلك.

«فلما أسلما» خضعا وانقادا لأمر الله تعالى «وتله للجبين» صرعه عليه، ولكل إنسان جبينان بينهما الجبهة وكان ذلك بمنى، وأمرَّ السكين على حلقه فلم تعمل شيئا بمانع من القدرة الإلهية.

«وناديناه أن يا إبراهيم».
